The 53rd UPU International Letter Writing Competition (2024) is organized by the Universal Postal Union (UPU) with the theme "Over the past 150 years, the Universal Postal Union has served more than 8 generations of people around the world. Since then, the world has changed a lot. Write a letter to future generations to talk about the world you hope they will inherit".
In Vietnam, this is the 36th Contest held. The Contest was launched and implemented nationwide from January 5 to March 31, 2024.
The Organizing Committee received nearly 1.5 million entries from students nationwide. Localities with many quality entries are Hanoi, Hai Duong, Da Nang, Thua Thien - Hue, Hai Phong, Bac Ninh, Nghe An, Ho Chi Minh City, Khanh Hoa... The entries were carefully selected and invested in by the school, many letters were invested in depth.
The theme of the competition is associated with the 150th anniversary of the Universal Postal Union (1874 - 2024), but it does not only focus on the history - or the role of the Postal industry in serving the world, but this year's theme encourages young people to express their thoughts on the world we live in facing global challenges and propose solutions for change.
The letters that were selected as finalists and highly appreciated were those that were creative, had unique emotions, and made an impression. There were many letters that were carefully written, outstanding with great ideas and messages, but there were also many letters that were written in an innocent, cute voice, suitable for the age of the students.
After 5 rounds of judging, the National Jury selected 130 entries for the final round. As a result, the Organizing Committee awarded 1 First Prize, 3 Second Prizes, 5 Third Prizes, 30 Encouragement Prizes, 61 Promising Writer Prizes; 12 prizes for contestants with disabilities; the First and Second Prize winners were awarded the Creative Youth Badge by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.
