"The East Coast City is an Incredible Miracle"
Meeting Mr. Chu Nhan on an autumn day in October when this general director was busy completing the ground floor of the nearly 3,000m2 Vegetarian restaurant at Mega Grand World Hanoi, he did not hesitate to share about the 5-year journey of starting a business in the "new city in the East".
Recalling the initial time, Mr. Nhan said that the East in 2018 was just a nearly wild, unexplored land. To get to the construction site, he had to travel from Highway 5, cross Trau Quy town, and go through a residential road to get there. However, after 5 years, this land has transformed dramatically into a bustling metropolis with nearly 100,000 people living there, with fast and convenient traffic connections.
"Even now, sometimes when I drive around the urban area, I still think this is a dream. Reality is like a miracle, beyond my initial imagination," Mr. Nhan shared.
During the process of distributing and trading real estate projects in the Eastern area of the capital, Mr. Nhan also witnessed the increasing excitement and bustle of Vinhomes Ocean Park. The climax, the opening event of the 24.5ha Pearl Lake and the Crystal Lagoon saltwater lake at the end of 2019 attracted nearly 100,000 visitors, which prompted him to expand into the food and service business.
When he saw the opportunity at Vinhomes Ocean Park 2, he implemented ideas in the F&B field with 2 restaurants Maris and Waterloo at the Royal Wave Park Wave Sea complex located in VinWonders Hanoi Wave Park.
"It would be wrong to say there is no pain, the market has ups and downs, but currently the projects being implemented have all given relatively positive results, exceeding our expectations when starting and tending to improve both in terms of revenue efficiency and number of customers," the businessman confided.
Currently, Mr. Nhan's company is the official distributor of Vinhomes and Vincom Retail at Vinhomes Ocean Park 1, 2, 3 projects. According to him, although the market has ups and downs due to macro factors, with real products, real business of reputable investors, full legal status, the real estate cycle is just a marginal variable, customers are always there, residents are still crowded.
Regarding the culinary sector, on weekends, the restaurants he manages often exceed capacity, sometimes welcoming up to 1,000 guests a day. For large events such as the EDM Ravolution music festival with more than 15,000 guests, the K-Food culinary festival, the beer festival, etc., he has to triple the number of employees but still cannot meet the demand.
Bring relatives to start a business in Ocean City
After more than 5 years of doing business in the new center in the East, Mr. Nhan and his brothers continued to expand their business when they saw the great potential in the "destination city" Ocean City of 1,200 hectares with a population of up to 250,000 people. The motivation in the young businessman increased when Vingroup launched the shopping - entertainment - recreation complex Mega Grand World, which is expected to become a "sleepless night street" in the East.
The group has rented 6 shops at The Venice (Mega Grand World) and is renovating and demolishing the entire building to open the Chang Chay restaurant with a unique and elegant design to provide both culinary services and cultural and spiritual values to diners. According to the plan, the restaurant will open on the occasion of Mega Grand World's operation, in December.
In addition, Mr. Nhan and his brothers also plan to deploy a series of new services to meet the needs of Ocean City residents such as golf, indoor tennis, services for children... to resonate with the project's effects.
"I often joke with my brothers and sisters that I 'dragged the whole family' to start a business in Ocean City. In fact, my relatives, brothers and friends are all participating in my projects here. If there is anything that makes me able to put all my efforts into startup projects here, it is faith. The prosperity of Ocean City today is like a miracle for the Eastern region. I believe that in 5 years, we will continue to be surprised many more times," said Mr. Nhan.
According to the general director, this belief is completely justified when Vinhomes has attracted nearly 60,000 people to settle down at Vinhomes Ocean Park 1, and is expected to reach 250,000 people. Mr. Nhan commented that this is an impressive number that business people cannot ignore, when most of the customers here are people with average income, not afraid to spend to enjoy services, utilities, and convenient experiences right in the urban area.
"It is not by chance that 200 big, leading retail brands have chosen to do business here since the end of this year. All the thoughtful, far-sighted and methodical plans of the investor are the basis for my family and I to put our faith in the success of our startup plans," the businessman affirmed.
