At Ben Thanh Station, General Secretary To Lam directly visited and talked with people taking the train. The trip not only demonstrated the attention of Party and State leaders to the public transport system, but also affirmed the importance of Metro Line 1 in developing urban infrastructure, reducing traffic congestion and improving the quality of life for Ho Chi Minh City residents.
Earlier that morning, metro line 1 was also honored to welcome Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and a delegation of high-ranking leaders to visit and experience.
Mr. Le Minh Triet, Director of Urban Railway Company No. 1 (HURC1), shared that both groups of guests were "special guests" that made HURC1 extremely surprised but also proud when metro line No. 1 received great attention from leaders of the two countries.

Reporting at the meeting, HURC1 said that in the period from February 1 to February 19, 2025, metro line No. 1 operated 3,768 trains, transporting 913,540 passengers, reaching 124% of the transport plan.
Metro Line 1 officially went into operation on December 22, 2024 and has so far carried over 4.6 million passengers.

Metro Line 1 is the first urban railway line of Ho Chi Minh City, with a total length of about 19.7 km, of which 2.6 km is underground and 17.1 km is elevated, including 14 stations (3 underground stations and 11 elevated stations).
The route starts from Ben Thanh through Le Loi, Nguyen Sieu, Ngo Van Nam, Ton Duc Thang, Ba Son, Nguyen Huu Canh, Van Thanh, Dien Bien Phu, Saigon Bridge, Hanoi Highway and ends at Long Binh depot, Ho Chi Minh City. The depot has an area of 20 hectares.
The line uses 17 trains, each with a capacity of 930 passengers, including 147 seats and 783 standing places. The maximum speed of the train is 110 km/h on the elevated section and 80 km/h in the underground section. Currently, the line operates from 5:00 to 22:00 daily, with a frequency of 8-12 minutes/trip, an average of 200 trips/day.
Metro Line 1 is widely used by people, with the highest recorded passenger volume reaching 200,000 trips/day on December 29, 2024 and 120,000 trips/day on January 30, 2025 (the 2nd day of Tet).
The route's automatic toll collection system supports many payment methods such as QR code, HCMC Metro application, international bank cards, NAPAS domestic cards, MoMo wallet and citizen identification cards.
Ticket prices are divided into many categories, including one-way tickets from 7,000 - 20,000 VND (6,000 - 19,000 VND with cashless payment), daily tickets 40,000 VND, 3-day tickets 90,000 VND and monthly tickets 300,000 VND for general passengers, 150,000 VND for students. In particular, the route is free for people with revolutionary contributions, people with disabilities, the elderly and children under 6 years old.
