In the first months of 2024, the province's export picture has shown bright colors. In particular, agricultural exports also brought "optimistic signals", opening up many expectations to increase the value of agricultural export activities in 2024.
According to statistics from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Thanh Hoa currently has about 50 enterprises participating in the export of agricultural products. Some of the products have large output and economic value such as: salted cucumbers, salted chili, tapioca starch, tomatoes, canned pineapple, frozen suckling pig, frozen clams, dried clams, frozen seafood, surimi fish cakes, fish meal... The province's agricultural products are mainly exported to the markets of China, Korea, Japan, Russia, the United States, some EU countries... After a long period of sluggish import and export activities in general and agricultural products in particular, since the beginning of 2024, the world market has had many positive changes. Along with that, the province has built 164 codes for domestic and export growing areas. These are the levers to promote the export of agricultural products of the province.
At this time, nearly 100 workers of Viet Agricultural Products Processing and Export Joint Stock Company, Long Anh Ward (Thanh Hoa City) are speeding up production progress to complete orders of contracts signed in the second quarter of 2024. Company director Nguyen Van Quynh said: As a unit with "seniority" in agricultural product export activities with products such as canned pineapple, canned baby cucumber... the company always strives to improve product quality and connect to expand the consumption market. Currently, the products have been exported directly to the Chinese market, Eastern European countries, Central Asia and exported through intermediaries to the Muslim market. In the first quarter of 2024, the company's revenue reached more than 15 billion VND.
Currently, the free trade agreements that Vietnam has signed are opportunities for the company to find partners and expand export markets. Therefore, the company strives to maintain safe production, striving to complete 100% of signed orders with the highest quality. At the same time, it continues to seek partners, expand export markets, and complete the production and business plan for 2024.
Considered one of the agricultural products with development prospects in the last months of the year, the province's forestry product exports in the first quarter of 2024 reached more than 49 million USD, an increase of 17.5% over the same period. With positive signs of recovery, many wood processing and exporting enterprises in Thanh Hoa province have invested in machinery and technology, improved product quality and signed large, long-term orders from major markets such as China, Japan, and Korea.
Director of Dai Phat Forestry Processing Company (Nhu Thanh) Vu Dang Vang said: Since the beginning of 2024, the export of forest products has been quite stable, so the company has invested in installing a new production line to diversify its products. In addition to exporting wood chips, the company also aims at other products such as plywood, refined wood... and at the same time cooperates with people to expand raw material areas to meet production needs.

According to experts, the import and export market in the second quarter and the last months of 2024 will have positive developments, especially for forestry and fishery products. Therefore, to ensure the value of exported agricultural, forestry and fishery products, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is continuing to coordinate with relevant departments, branches and units to monitor market fluctuations and seek official and potential export channels to contribute to increasing the export value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products in the last months of the year. At the same time, promoting connections between agricultural export enterprises to help units exchange information and support each other in exporting. Along with that, the agricultural sector coordinates with relevant departments and branches to promote the development of e-commerce, creating conditions for enterprises to apply e-commerce to reduce costs for activities of promoting, introducing and selling products and goods to domestic and export consumers.
Positive signals from agricultural export activities in the province in recent times have contributed to creating motivation for enterprises and production facilities to overcome difficulties and continue to promote exports. However, in the face of increasingly high market standards, it is required that enterprises and agricultural, forestry and fishery production units in the province change their production thinking, improve product quality towards food safety, ensure traceability, build brands... so that agricultural export activities are truly sustainable.
