New home joy
The family of Mrs. Colau Thi Pleoch (Co Tu ethnic) in the border commune of Tr'hy (Tay Giang) has lived for decades in a temporary house made of bamboo and thatch, which is seriously degraded. Every time it rains or is windy, the whole family has to find shelter; Mrs. Pleoch often gets sick, making life even more difficult.
Implementing the temporary house elimination program, at the end of 2024, Ms. Plơích's family received 50 million VND from officers and soldiers of Tr'hy Border Guard Station; she borrowed more from relatives to build a solid "Border Shelter" house on an area of 180 square meters, with a corrugated iron roof, tiled floor, and built according to traditional Co Tu architecture.
Not only did her family receive financial support, but they also received support from border guards and local youth union members for construction work. “Having a new, spacious and sturdy house gives my family peace of mind to live and work. We thank the Party, the State and all levels and sectors for supporting poor people like me to have a solid house,” said Ms. Ploech.

Major Trinh Van Duc - Deputy Political Commissar of Tr'hy Border Guard Station said that in response to the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, the unit organized a launching ceremony and signed a competition agreement between teams and working stations; coordinated with local Party committees and authorities of two communes under the unit's management to review households in especially difficult circumstances in need of housing support.
With the spirit of "fastest, most effective, most economical", from October 2024 to now, Tr'hy Border Guard Station has mobilized support for the Co Tu people in the two communes of Axan and Tr'hy to build 6 houses, with a total value of 300 million VND.
In addition, officers and soldiers helped with hundreds of working days, contributing to speeding up the elimination of temporary houses in the area, bringing the program to an early finish line. Thereby, contributing to building a strong and prosperous border, a solid people's position, protecting the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and border security of the Fatherland.
Stabilize the lives of people in border areas
The highland and border areas of the province are mainly inhabited by ethnic minorities such as Co Tu, Ve, Ta Rieng (Gie Trieng)... The rugged mountainous terrain is often affected by natural disasters such as flash floods, landslides, and extreme weather events, which have greatly affected people's lives and production.
In order for people in ethnic minority and mountainous border areas to have stable housing and peace of mind to develop their socio-economy, over the past two years, border posts along the Nam Giang and Tay Giang borders have mobilized hundreds of millions of VND to support people in eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses associated with natural disaster prevention.
Each officer and soldier of the Quang Nam Provincial Border Guard also voluntarily contributes one day's salary to help the poor and disadvantaged have a place to rely on, leaving no one behind.

Colonel Hoang Van Man - Political Commissar of the Provincial Border Guard said that in order to soon complete the housing according to the program, the Party Committees and Command Boards of the border posts have increased the urging, inspection, and supervision of construction, ensuring the area, structure, quality of the works and the progress of the house construction.
“Thanks to the drastic participation of the entire political system and the consensus of the people, since the beginning of 2025, the Provincial Border Guard has supported the construction of 25 new houses, each house worth 50 - 100 million VND, to give to people in difficult circumstances and poor households in the border area. More than 300 officers and soldiers also directly contributed 1,767 working days to build the houses,” said Colonel Hoang Van Man.
The joint activities of border guards and soldiers in Quang Nam province to eliminate temporary houses have contributed to strengthening the solidarity between the army and the people, beautifying the image of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" in the hearts of people in border areas, building a strong people's position and an increasingly solid people's border defense.
