The victim was TTA (born 2010), a 9th grade student at Thuan Duc Primary and Secondary School (Dong Hoi City, Quang Binh Province).

According to initial information, at around 4:15 p.m. on April 3, TTA went fishing with friends downstream of the main spillway of Phu Vinh Lake.

After fishing for a while, TA jumped into the spillway to bathe but because the water was deep, he gradually sank.

At this time, the two friends tried to pull him up but couldn't, so they called for help from the people around.

Upon receiving the news, local authorities mobilized functional forces to quickly arrive at the scene to carry out search operations.

As of 8:20 p.m. the same day (April 3), the search had yet to yield results.
