If we continue to use electricity wastefully, it will cause a shortage of electricity, insufficient transmission of electricity will adversely affect the quality of the equipment, and can even cause them to be completely damaged. Using electricity reasonably and economically will help households reduce living expenses, help businesses improve production and business efficiency. Every small action of each person, household, production facility will contribute to reducing electricity consumption, reducing polluting emissions into the environment, saving a large part of the cost for the country... And saving electricity has become a beautiful feature in the civilized lifestyle of the people of the Land of Ancestors.

The model of “Electricity-saving families”, aiming at the goal of “Electricity-saving households, electricity-saving individuals” has been maintained by Phu Tho Electricity Company for many years. According to statistics from the electricity industry, the amount of electricity consumed in households accounts for about 35-40% of the total national electricity consumption. Therefore, the economical, safe and efficient use of electricity by each individual and family plays a very important role, not only contributing to reducing electricity consumption, saving costs for the family, but also protecting the environment and saving national resources.

Mr. Le Chi Thanh, Zone 13, Hoang Xa Commune, Thanh Thuy District shared: “Currently, my family has 8 people. Although we live in the countryside, our house has enough electrical equipment to serve our family's daily activities. Previously, during the dry season, due to not knowing how to use electricity and using it unscientifically, our electricity bills were always high and our electrical equipment often broke down. Since being instructed and using energy-saving devices such as LED lights, inverter electronic devices and using electricity scientifically, our family's electricity costs have decreased significantly and our devices are operating stably. Currently, in my area, all families are aware of using electricity reasonably and scientifically to both save money for their families and avoid overloading."

The Earth Hour 2025 program was held from 20:30 to 21:30 on Saturday, March 22, 2025 with the message "Green transition - Green future" and received the participation of agencies, units, businesses and many households in the province. That proves that saving electricity has become a habit of families, through specific actions such as: Turning off electrical appliances when not in use; only using air conditioning when absolutely necessary; choosing to buy high-performance electrical appliances and equipment or electrical appliances with energy-saving labels; Install and use rooftop solar power systems, solar water heating systems... Currently, the electricity industry has also instructed families to proactively monitor electricity consumption through the electricity industry's EVNCPC CSKH applications to have plans to adjust usage levels appropriately and promptly, spreading awareness of saving electricity to relatives and friends around, to join hands to preserve and protect the green planet...

Continue to spread the habit of saving electricity

Phu Tho province's electricity supply is currently provided by 1 500kV transformer station and 2 220kV transformer stations in the area. In addition, there is also electricity from Thac Ba Hydropower Plant, 110kV Ba Khe - Yen Bai station, 220kV Son Tay - Hanoi station, 110kV Vinh Tuong - Vinh Phuc station. The power grid includes 19 110kV transformer stations, with a total installed capacity of 1,494 (MVA); 387.9km of 110kV lines; 3,333.04km of medium voltage lines; 5,258.899km of low voltage lines and 4,628 distribution transformer stations. Due to the rapid growth of the number of enterprises investing in the area, especially in industrial parks and clusters, the demand for electricity has increased sharply, exceeding the forecast. Load capacity usage increased, continuously setting records compared to the original plan, especially on hot and cold days.

According to Phu Tho Power Company, the largest electricity consumption capacity of Phu Tho province is 752.9 (MW) at 18:00 on December 2, 2024, an increase of 5.08% compared to 2023, ranking 13th out of 27 Power Companies under the Northern Power Corporation. The consumption capacity on hot days is very different from the consumption capacity on normal days, the difference is up to 84.3 MW, equivalent to a difference of up to 12.6% compared to normal days. In addition to building and renovating the power grid and technical and operational management measures, Phu Tho Power Company has strengthened close coordination with local departments, branches, sectors, unions and social organizations in implementing the electricity saving propaganda program.

In 2024, the entire Company carried out 830 propaganda campaigns on electricity saving on radio and loudspeakers; 150 times on newspapers and electronic newspapers, 20 times on television, and directly advised 13,000 customers on economical and efficient electricity use. Customers cooperated with the electricity industry to participate in the electricity saving program under the direction of the Prime Minister; including supporting the electricity industry to implement load adjustment programs with a capacity of over 106 million kWh; 203 large customers agreed to move production away from peak hours; 226 customers signed load adjustment agreements. Customers developed electricity usage plans that were relatively close to reality; and proactively arranged backup diesel generators, ready to support the electricity industry. As a result, in 2024, the total electricity saved was 106.54 million kWh, equal to 2.56% of commercial electricity output.

In 2025, the maximum capacity of the North is expected to reach over 28,000 MW, the maximum capacity of Phu Tho Power Company is 912 MW, an increase of 21% compared to 2024, the growth rate of load is expected to continue to increase. Comrade Nguyen Quang Vinh - Deputy Director of Phu Tho Power Company said: The electricity industry in general and Phu Tho Power Company in particular will continue to face many difficulties and challenges in supplying electricity to customers. Therefore, from the end of 2024 and the beginning of 2025, Phu Tho Power Company has simultaneously deployed solutions to ensure electricity supply for 2025. The company has worked to sign load adjustment agreements with customers with output of 1 million kWh/year or more and has expanded to customers with less than 1 million kWh/year. The company has worked directly with hundreds of production and business customers with electricity consumption in 2024 reaching 1 million kWh/year or more so that customers can arrange reasonable production plans, shifting loads away from peak hours of the power system from 13:00 - 15:00 and 20:00 - 23:00 in the months of May, June, July, August with a total capacity shifted away from peak hours of the power system of more than 50MW.

At the customer conference recently held by Phu Tho Electricity Company, Mr. Dinh Trong Thao - Deputy General Director of Thang Cuong Company Limited, Bach Hac Ward, Viet Tri City shared the Company's experience in implementing electricity saving measures as well as adjusting the load at peak times. In light of the forecasts on the electricity supply situation this year, the Company is committed to closely coordinating with the electricity industry to ensure the implementation of measures as well as adjusting the load according to the electricity industry's plan.

Saving electricity is not only the action of an organization or an individual, but requires the participation of the whole society. Each of us needs to be aware to change our actions, forming the habit of using electricity reasonably, effectively and economically. Saving electricity is not the job of any individual. Saving electricity is saving costs and national resources with the goal of protecting a green planet.
