Journalist Ly Thanh Tam said that Tien Phong Newspaper is a political and social newspaper with the governing body being the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union. On November 16, 1953, Tien Phong Newspaper published its first issue and to date, the newspaper has turned 71 years old. Along with always completing the political tasks of the Youth Union newspaper excellently, Tien Phong Newspaper also organizes many social, cultural and sports charity activities.
Recently, storm No. 3 (Yagi) is considered the strongest storm in the past 30 years in the East Sea. From September 7 to 9, 2024, storm No. 3 and its circulation swept through many provinces and cities in the North of our country.
The loss and pain of our compatriots in natural disasters makes each of us feel heartbroken. More than 257,000 houses, 1,300 schools, 310,000 trees were broken; people suddenly lost everything when the storm swept through. Up to now, landslides, mountain drifts, and subsidence after the storm are still happening continuously in many localities. How many families have lost their heads, how many children will never have the warmth of their parents again. And there is still the lingering question: Where will their lives go when loss and grief suddenly strike?
After the storm, 55 children died or went missing, 8 children were injured and are being treated in hospitals, and about 100 children were orphaned. Schools collapsed and were damaged, and in many places, children were given the opportunity to go to school by taking temporary classes, and in some places, they even built tents to make rooms so that their studies would not be interrupted during the storm and flood.
With the desire to share and help orphans and children in difficult circumstances, Tien Phong newspaper coordinated with units to organize the launching ceremony of "With Tien Phong, help children go to school" to mobilize resources to give savings books, accident insurance, scholarships to orphans and students in especially difficult circumstances; give teaching equipment, school supplies... to students and schools damaged by storms.
“On behalf of Tien Phong newspaper, I would like to thank the company and promise to use resources from Ban Viet Real Estate Company in a transparent and effective manner to support children in storm and flood areas,” said journalist Ly Thanh Tam.
