Event attendees will have the opportunity to meet and network with industry leaders, policy makers and organisations advocating for green growth. Networking activities, such as Q&A sessions with Nordic Ambassadors and interactive competitions with prizes, will also be held to enhance engagement.

The event will officially open with the presence of the Finnish Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, Mr. Ville Tavio, and four Nordic Ambassadors to Vietnam. Hundreds of delegates from government agencies, businesses, social organizations, youth representatives and academia are expected to attend the event.

The event not only serves as an opportunity to promote cooperation between the Nordic countries and Vietnam, but also supports Vietnam in achieving its important environmental commitments, including the goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050, which Vietnam committed to at COP26. Energy transition solutions, circular economy and sustainable food systems are shared focuses to support Vietnam in achieving its long-term sustainable development goals.

At the Nordic Day - Going Green event held within the framework of GEFE 2024, Nordic Ambassadors highlighted the region's pioneering role in green transition and sustainable development.

Mr. Nicolai Prytz, Ambassador of Denmark, affirmed that the green energy transition is a prerequisite for promoting sustainable development in other sectors such as transport and industry. According to him, this is not only a climate task, but also an important economic opportunity. He hopes that this event can inspire and open up opportunities for cooperation between the Nordic countries and Vietnam.

In addition, Norwegian Ambassador Hilde Solbakken emphasized the importance of circular economy in sustainable development. She introduced the Nordic approach of optimizing resources, minimizing waste and promoting sustainable consumption, and hoped that Vietnam could apply similar models to reduce dependence on raw materials and improve waste management efficiency.

Mr. Johan Ndisi, Ambassador of Sweden, said that Northern Europe aims to become the most integrated and sustainable region in the world by 2030. He emphasized that the region's success comes from close cooperation between countries in the bloc, and hopes that through this event, countries can continue to build a sustainable future together.

On his part, Finnish Ambassador Keijo Norvanto said that he focused on how climate change affects all sectors and people, and called for strong policies to adapt to and mitigate the impacts of climate change.

He emphasized the role of youth in policy making and was pleased to have the opportunity to discuss with Vietnamese youth, sharing stories about how the Nordics have built a culture of youth engagement on climate change issues.

The event not only shares success stories from Northern Europe but also serves as a forum for exchange to promote Vietnam in its journey of sustainable development, while encouraging cooperation between the two sides to achieve the dual goals of economic growth and environmental protection.
