Thuy Tien and Xuan Hanh participate in the Ho Chi Minh City night race

Runner-up Thuy Tien, Miss Xuan Hanh, CEO Unicorp Bao Hoang participated in the VPBank VnExpress Marathon Ho Chi Minh City Midnight, starting on March 3.

This is the third time Huynh Pham Thuy Tien - Miss Universe Vietnam 2022 - has participated in a race under the VnExpress Marathon system. The beauty registered for 21km to challenge her limits, instead of the 10km distance like the VnExpress Marathon Sparkling Quy Nhon 2023. She said she had prepared both physically and mentally for her first long-distance night run.

Over the past few months, Thuy Tien and her group of friends have been practicing continuously, flexibly using their free time during the day, especially at night. She does not focus on results, but hopes to run long-distance, finish before the closing time of the race, and enjoy the scenery of Ho Chi Minh City at midnight.

"For me, jogging is one of my favorite sports and I practice it regularly. This activity helps improve my health, burn excess fat, increase endurance and work efficiency," Thuy Tien said.

Thuy Tien was also impressed when VPBank VnExpress Marathon Ho Chi Minh City Midnight expected to welcome 11,000 runners, including nearly 600 runners from 60 countries. The course of all four distances meets AIMS standards. Athletes can use their achievements from this race to register for major tournaments such as Boston Marathon, London Marathon, Berlin Marathon, Tokyo Marathon...

Accompanying Thuy Tien on the 21km route is his close brother Tran Viet Bao Hoang - CEO of Saigon Universe Joint Stock Company (Unicorp). This year, he aims to set a PR (personal record), about 2 hours and 15 minutes. At the Ho Chi Minh City night race last year, he conquered the 21km in 2 hours and 20 minutes.

This is the fourth time he has participated in a race under the VnExpress Marathon system, Bao Hoang said that the feeling is still the same as the first time, each place has a different experience. At the Ho Chi Minh City night race, he had the opportunity to admire the modern, dynamic city when the lights come on. In Quy Nhon, Hoang and the group of runners ran across Thi Nai Bridge, Nguyen Tat Thanh Square... In his hometown Nha Trang, he likes the coastal route the most.

VPBank VnExpress Marathon Ho Chi Minh City Midnight is the first night race in the life of Bui Thi Xuan Hanh - Miss Universe Vietnam 2023, marking the first time she participated in a race under the VnExpress Marathon system. The beauty said she wants to complete 10km, the next races will challenge herself at a distance of 21km.

"Right now, I'm very excited to run at night for the first time and curious about what downtown Ho Chi Minh City will be like at night," she revealed.

Despite her busy schedule, Xuan Hanh still finds time to run on the roads near her home, about an hour a day. Over the past few months, to prepare for the race on March 3, she has also done additional exercises to increase her endurance and speed.

For Xuan Hanh, jogging is a useful sport, helping to improve mental health, reduce stress and control weight, especially improving sleep.

"After the race in Ho Chi Minh City, I set a goal of running 21km in under two hours. If I complete it, I will try to increase the difficulty for myself with a distance of 42km," the beauty queen added.

The Ho Chi Minh City Night Run, which kicked off on March 3, is the opening event for a series of 8 tournaments in 2024 of the VnExpress Marathon system. The organizers are gradually completing the final stages. Like other tournaments, runners will receive medical care, water and electrolyte support, and safety on the track. The organizers will install additional lights on sections of the track that are not well-lit, ensuring the best competition conditions for athletes.
