Associate Professor Nguyen Xuan Hoan, Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade , said that the school's 2025 Lunar New Year bonus is 25 million VND/person.
This bonus is implemented according to internal spending regulations applied from the 2024-2025 school year. All officers, civil servants, employees, and school leaders with a working period of 1 year or more, regardless of title, position, or degree, will receive equal bonuses.
For those who have worked at the school for less than 1 year or have quit or transferred jobs, the bonus will be calculated differently. This bonus does not apply to daily or seasonal contracts. In addition, the school also sets aside a sum for New Year's lucky money for staff, lecturers, and employees as well as gifts for retired leaders and teachers.
Currently, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade has nearly 800 staff, lecturers and employees. The Tet bonus and lucky money fund is up to more than 20 billion VND. Compared to 2024, the school's Tet bonus increased by 5 million VND/person.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education has not yet agreed on the 2025 Tet bonus, but it is expected to be at least the same as last year. In 2024, each cadre, lecturer, and employee will receive a bonus of 1 month's salary and 25 million VND. Of which, 1 month's salary includes salary according to state regulations and salary according to the school's salary mechanism. With this calculation, the lowest Tet bonus is about 30 million VND, and the highest is 70-80 million VND.
The head of the communications department of another university also said that according to the school's regulations, there is a 13th month salary for staff, lecturers and employees. Thus, depending on their monthly salary, they will receive a certain amount.
According to Decree 60/2021 of the Government, the financial results of the year are allocated by the school into 4 funds, including: career development, income supplement, rewards and welfare, and other funds. After establishing the 4 funds, the remaining difference between revenue and expenditure is added to the career development fund.
Schools that have ensured all or part of their regular expenses are allocated 1.5-3 months of salary and wages in the year for the reward and welfare fund. The amount of salary and wages that schools usually pay on the occasion of Lunar New Year is called Tet bonus.
