Muong Long is located in a valley on a 1,485 meter high mountain peak in the Truong Son range, near the border with Laos. The road to the commune starts from Muong Xen town, Ky Son district, Nghe An province, with over 50 km of dirt road along small passes, then passing through the "heavenly gate" called "Muong Long Heavenly Gate". The beautiful landscape and cool climate here make many flowers bloom such as peach, plum, and now there are also many medicinal flowers.
