One of the difficulties of craft village production in Hanoi today is the consumption market and finding outlets for products. In addition, the design and creation of products is also a weakness. Over the past 14 years, Hanoi has periodically organized the Hanoi Giftshow International Handicraft Gift Fair to help solve these problems.

Hanoi Giftshow is an annual, prestigious event of the handicraft industry directed by the Hanoi People's Committee, chaired by the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, and organized by the Industrial Promotion and Development Consulting Center (IDC). After 13 years of organization, Hanoi Giftshow has affirmed its role as a prestigious export handicraft fair in the Asia-Pacific region, attracting nearly 5,500 booths of more than 2,450 enterprises and production facilities from provinces, cities and more than 30 countries with typical handicraft products participating. The fairs have recorded more than 130,000 visitors and shopping transactions. Of which, more than 8,500 international importers and trade visitors participated in trade connection activities, thousands of contracts and memorandums of understanding on consumption of products with high export value were signed, contributing positively to the growth of handicraft exports from 6-8%/year. Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade Nguyen Dinh Thang assessed that Hanoi Giftshow has created a bridge to help businesses and handicraft production establishments in Hanoi and the whole country meet, trade, connect business, negotiate and sign contracts with importers and trade visitors to boost consumption and export of products. In addition, the program also contributes to promoting support for businesses, production establishments, artisans in the handicraft industry in Hanoi and provinces and cities nationwide to promote, introduce products, develop products, industries, and markets. On October 10, to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital, the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade will continue to organize the 14th Hanoi International Handicraft Gift Fair in 2024 at the National Exhibition Center for Architecture and Construction Planning (Nam Tu Liem District). The fair will have 450 booths of domestic and foreign handicraft enterprises and production facilities, expected to attract more than 17,000 visitors, transacting directly and online during the 4 days.
According to the Organizing Committee, in 2024, the economy will face many difficulties, deeply affected by political fluctuations, energy crisis, natural disasters, storms and floods in the country, etc. It is forecasted that businesses and production establishments will face many difficulties. Therefore, Hanoi Giftshow 2024 will be a good opportunity for businesses and handicraft production establishments nationwide to promote and introduce products, find partners and customers, expand markets, and restore production. This will be a place for businesses and handicraft production establishments to display, promote, and introduce unique handicraft products, demonstrating the creativity and talent of the makers and artisans. Businesses with booths participating in the Fair will be promoted on cyberspace to serve online trade connection activities and will be supported to introduce and promote their images on domestic and foreign e-commerce channels after the Fair. To better serve the Fair, the Organizing Committee will arrange a team, interpreters, and volunteers who are knowledgeable about the handicraft industry and fluent in foreign languages to support importers and international visitors throughout the Fair. In addition, this year's Hanoi Giftshow also has an area displaying newly designed handicraft products in 2024. This area displays products with new, unique, creative designs, high economic, technical, and aesthetic values, along with products that won the 2024 Handicraft Product Design Competition. Thereby, helping visitors and businesses grasp information about innovative activities in the handicraft sector. “With the active support of the Department of Industry and Trade, Hanoi City, the efforts of businesses, production facilities and the active participation of foreign importers, Hanoi Giftshow will continue to be an activity that brings businesses, traditional craft villages and artisans opportunities to bring Hanoi's handicraft industry to domestic and international friends, contributing to promoting exports and sustainable development of the handicraft industry” - the leader of Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade emphasized.
