Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh recently visited three Middle Eastern countries from October 27 to November 1, with a busy schedule and achieved many important results.
Before concluding the visit, the Prime Minister visited Ras Laffan Industrial Zone - home to many of Qatar's large oil refineries and gas processing plants such as ORYX GTL, Pearl GTL, Dolphin... and the world's largest artificial port, the main liquefied gas production site of Qatar and the world's largest liquefied gas export facility.
Responding to the press, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son said the visit was an important milestone, demonstrating the developing relationship between Vietnam and the three countries and having special significance.
New strategic thinking vision
According to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, the visit affirmed Vietnam's new strategic thinking, vision, and determination in bringing relations with the three key countries of the Gulf region into a new phase, stronger, more comprehensive, with deeper trust, and more open opportunities.
Therefore, the visit has elevated the relationship between Vietnam and the three countries in particular, and the Middle East - North Africa region in general.
The official upgrading of relations with the UAE to Comprehensive Partnership has opened up new development space, expanding the Comprehensive Partnership network to 13 countries.
At the same time, the agreement between Vietnam, Saudi Arabia and Qatar to soon elevate relations to a new level has created momentum for comprehensive development of friendship and multifaceted cooperation, creating leverage to strengthen relations with other important partners in the Middle East - North Africa region.
The visit also demonstrates innovative thinking, strategic vision, strong commitment, and decisive action in promoting multifaceted cooperation with the potential Middle East region.
That is opening more export markets, attracting high-quality investment from investment funds and leading corporations in the world.
Priority areas include artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, clean energy, green transformation, digital transformation, innovation and Halal industry development...
Imprint of 33 cooperation documents in many fields

- The Prime Minister had a busy working program with nearly 60 activities. Many important documents were approved, including the Joint Statement on upgrading Vietnam - UAE relations to Comprehensive Partnership, a joint press release between Vietnam and Qatar, etc.
There have been 33 cooperation documents in the fields of trade - investment, finance, energy, innovation, standards, measurement and quality, education - training, sports, and cooperation between enterprises.
This will create the basis for promoting cooperation in all fields between Vietnam and the three countries to develop more strongly.
With the results achieved, the visit deepened political trust and consolidated good personal relations between the Vietnamese leaders and the leaders of the three countries, with the determination to develop bilateral relations in a practical, effective and long-term manner.
Accordingly, many substantial and breakthrough results in the fields of economic, trade and investment cooperation have been achieved. Including the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with the UAE, aiming to increase two-way trade turnover to 20 billion USD in the coming time...
With Saudi Arabia, the two sides agreed on a trade turnover target of 10 billion USD; promoting this country to become the leading investor in Vietnam...
With Qatar, they also agreed on efforts to increase trade turnover, study the establishment of a Joint Working Group on Trade; consider the possibility of building a Vietnam Product Exhibition Center in Qatar; promote financial cooperation...
Another highlight was the Prime Minister's attendance at the 8th Future Investment Initiative Conference.
