US President Donald Trump said the US military may continue to attack Houthi forces in Yemen for a while longer, saying the Houthis want peace.

The Times of Israel on March 27 quoted US President Donald Trump as saying that the Houthi forces in Yemen "desperately want peace" after more than a week of US airstrikes.
“The Houthis are looking to do something. They want to know, ‘How do we stop? How can we have peace?’ The Houthis want peace because they are being defeated. The Houthis have been hit hard and they want to negotiate peace,” he said.
However, the US President said that the US forces should probably continue to attack Houthi targets in Yemen for a while longer.
"The Houthi forces have caused serious damage, killing many people and destroying many boats, planes and other vehicles... They have been attacked more fiercely than ever before," he said.
Houthi leader ready to 'escalate escalation' against US
According to Mr. Trump, the US attacks on the Houthis have been more successful than expected and can continue for a long time.
He also defended National Security Adviser Mike Waltz and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth over senior security officials' use of a civilian messaging app to discuss an airstrike against the Houthis.
The Houthis did not immediately comment on Mr. Trump's statement.
In another development in the Middle East, Al-Aqsa Radio, run by Hamas in the Gaza Strip, said spokesman Abdel-Latif Al-Qanoua was killed in an Israeli airstrike in northern Gaza.
Mr Al-Qanoua was killed when his tent was hit by an airstrike in Jabalia. Several people were injured.
Earlier, Israel raided and killed two other Hamas figures: Hamas political office member Ismail Barhoum and senior leader Salah al-Bardaweel.
The two were members of Hamas' 20-member decision-making body, known as the political bureau, of which 11 have been killed since fighting began in late 2023, according to Hamas sources.
