The meeting took place on the occasion of the two Prime Ministers attending the Special Summit to celebrate 50 years of ASEAN-Australia relations.
This morning, March 6, in Melbourne, Australia, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on the occasion of attending the Special Summit to celebrate 50 years of ASEAN-Australia relations.

At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh congratulated Cambodia on its recent economic achievements and congratulated Cambodia on successfully organizing the 5th Senate election. According to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the election results continued to affirm the role and leadership position of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) in the country. The head of the Vietnamese Government sent his warmest congratulations to Samdech Techo Hunsen, President and senior leaders of the CPP, and respectfully conveyed the greetings of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and key leaders of Vietnam to King Norodom Sihamoni and Samdech Techo Hunsen.

Also at the meeting, the two Prime Ministers expressed their delight at the stable development of bilateral cooperation in recent times; leaders of the two countries have maintained regular high-level visits and contacts; and bilateral cooperation mechanisms continue to be effective. The two Prime Ministers agreed to further enhance the effectiveness of economic - trade - investment cooperation; promote connectivity between the two economies, especially transport connectivity, as a basis and new driving force for strengthening cooperation in other fields. Continue to coordinate effectively in implementing existing agreements and mechanisms on defense - security; strive to resolve about 16% of unfinished border demarcation and marker planting to build a peaceful, friendly, cooperative and sustainably developed border between the two countries. Prime Minister Hun Manet agreed to continue to pay attention to and create conditions for people of Vietnamese origin in Cambodia to stabilize their lives, integrate into the local community, and serve as a bridge of friendship between the two countries; and at the same time create favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises investing and doing business in Cambodia. He proposed increasing the frequency of flights between the two countries to enhance tourism and trade connectivity. The two leaders also agreed to continue close cooperation between the two countries as well as with Laos and Thailand to connect transportation, connect tourism, and exploit the tourism potential of the countries.
