Border guards deployed to support search and rescue in Myanmar

On the morning of March 30, at Border Guard Intermediate School 24, the Border Guard Command deployed troops to support search and rescue efforts and overcome the consequences of the earthquake in Myanmar.

Major General Le Van Phuc, Deputy Commander of the Border Guard, presented a farewell gift to the team participating in supporting search and rescue and overcoming the consequences of the earthquake in Myanmar.

Colonel Nguyen Van Thuyen - Principal of Border Guard Intermediate School 24 said that, implementing the direction of the Border Guard General Staff, the school has organized a review and selection to establish a Search and Rescue Team consisting of 9 officers, trainers, and professional staff to participate in the task with sufficient political qualities, qualifications, capacity, and work experience, and 6 specialized search and rescue dogs with good physical strength and flexible nerves to ensure the successful completion of the task.

According to Colonel Nguyen Van Thuyen, the school has implemented the issuance of animal quarantine certificates for service dogs, ensuring the number of officers, trainers, service dogs, equipment, and materials are ready to perform the task. Prepare equipment, materials, food, and provisions for people and service dogs to ensure the implementation of the task of overcoming the consequences of the earthquake in Myanmar within 20 days. Be ready to ensure the use of 4 pairs of search and rescue service dogs to replace when required.

Speaking at the ceremony, Major General Le Van Phuc, Deputy Commander of the Border Guard, affirmed: Participating in supporting search and rescue and overcoming the consequences of the earthquake in Myanmar demonstrates the spirit of "mutual love", "helping each other", a fine tradition of the Vietnamese people; demonstrating the superior foreign policy and high responsibility towards the international community of the Party, State and people of Vietnam. At the same time, it affirms the prestige, sense of responsibility and capacity of the Vietnam People's Army in general and the Border Guard in particular in international integration, relations and cooperation. This is also an activity to continue to strengthen the friendly and cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Myanmar.

These are excellent officers and soldiers, carefully selected for their qualities, ethics, professional capacity and health, and have gained valuable experience through search and rescue operations at home and abroad.

“I believe that, with the spirit of “Forgetting oneself for the people”, “Wherever the people are in trouble, there is the Border Guard”, you comrades will be the ones to add more color to the heroic tradition of the Border Guard, overcoming all difficulties and challenges to excellently complete the assigned tasks”, Major General Le Van Phuc emphasized.

During the time of carrying out the noble mission in Myanmar, the Chief of the Border Guard Command requested the Rescue Team to strictly comply with the Party's foreign policy and guidelines, the laws and policies of the Vietnamese State and the regulations of the host country. Clearly demonstrate the bravery and qualities of the Border Guard officers and soldiers, maintain the good image of the Vietnam People's Army soldiers in the hearts of international friends. Continuously study, improve professional qualifications, skills, and train health to meet the requirements of the mission in difficult, harsh conditions, lacking in all aspects.

Speaking before departure, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Trung Kien, Head of the Department of Steam Source Identification, Border Guard Intermediate School 24, Team Leader participating in supporting search and rescue, overcoming the consequences of the earthquake in Myanmar promised to always uphold the spirit of self-awareness, sense of organization, discipline, etiquette, and military style, proactively overcome all difficulties, determined to excellently complete assigned tasks, ensuring absolute safety in all aspects.

Coordinate with Myanmar's functional forces and other international organizations to participate in supporting search and rescue work in a systematic, tight and effective manner, demonstrating the role and position of the search and rescue force of the Border Guard; contributing to enhancing the role and position of Vietnam, the Vietnam People's Army, the Border Guard force, and Border Guard Intermediate School 24 in supporting search and rescue, and responding to international disasters.

Strengthening propaganda work, contributing to spreading the image of Vietnam, its people and the image of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", the image of Border soldiers in the new era to international friends.
