At a press conference in late December 2024, Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Professor Bezdetko said that during the visit, the two sides are expected to exchange opinions on many issues, including the implementation of commemorative activities in 2025.

The Ambassador emphasized that Vietnam-Russia relations have a tradition of friendship and trust. In the current period, cooperation between the two sides continues to develop despite the complex geopolitical environment in the world.

During Russian President Vladimir Putin's state visit to Vietnam in June 2024, the two sides signed a large package of 15 documents to further promote cooperation in areas such as economy, education and training, science and culture.

In 2024, bilateral economic and trade cooperation will continue to develop. Cooperation in the oil and gas sector will continue to be successful, mainly within the framework of the Vietsovpetro joint venture. The flagship of cooperation between the two countries in this field celebrated the milestone of producing the 250 millionth ton of oil in 2024. In the Nenets autonomous region of Russia, the JC Rusvietpetro LLC project will continue to operate effectively.

The Russian GAZ car assembly company in Da Nang has achieved good results. Since putting the production line into operation at the end of 2020, the company has assembled and sold about 2,500 different vehicles to the Vietnamese market.

Thanks to the partial resumption of direct flights operated by Aeroflot and Iraero, the number of Russian tourists to Vietnam has increased again.

Russian Trade Representative Kharinov cited information from the General Department of Vietnam Customs saying that despite the complicated international situation, the two sides still achieved growth in trade turnover in traditional goods.

Chief Trade Representative Viacheslav Kharinov said Russia is looking for niche markets to export more car models to Vietnam.

Ambassador Bezdetko said that Vietnam and Russia had previously cooperated on the Ninh Thuan nuclear power plant project, before the project was stopped in 2016. Russia's nuclear industry is one of the most developed and famous in the world. Currently, Russia is leading the world in the total number of nuclear facilities and is always ready to cooperate with Vietnam in developing nuclear power.
