(NLDO)- At the meeting on January 15, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin awarded the Friendship Medal of the Russian Federation to President Luong Cuong.
On January 15, at the Presidential Palace, President Luong Cuong received Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and the Russian Government delegation who are on an official visit to Vietnam from January 14 to 15.
President Luong Cuong expressed his joy and appreciated the significance of Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin's first visit to Vietnam, emphasizing that this is the starting activity for the year the two countries celebrate the 75th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations (January 30, 1950 - January 30, 2025), opening a new page for bilateral cooperation, creating momentum to further promote the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
The President congratulated Russia on its economic and social development achievements in recent years under the leadership of President Vladimir Putin, the administration of the Russian Government and Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin informed President Luong Cuong of the results of his effective and substantive talks with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, during which the two sides had in-depth discussions on the bilateral cooperation situation and directions and measures to promote mutually beneficial relations in all fields between Vietnam and Russia, as well as the results of the meeting of nearly 100 typical businesses of the two countries.
President Luong Cuong and Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin expressed satisfaction with the positive developments in Vietnam-Russia relations in recent times in all fields: politics, economics - trade, investment, energy - oil and gas, science - technology, education - training, culture and other fields.
The two leaders emphasized that regular exchanges and contacts at all levels, especially at high levels, demonstrate political trust between the two countries, which is the basis for promoting cooperation in other fields; they believe that the two sides need to continue to make efforts to maintain and promote the rapid growth of bilateral trade, while making the most of the potential, strengths and experience of cooperation between the two countries over the past 75 years to deepen relations in other fields, be more substantive, effective and mutually beneficial. The President supports the two governments in resolving outstanding issues in cooperation.
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin expressed his gratitude to the Vietnamese side for the warm welcome given to the delegation, conveyed the greetings and best wishes of Russian President Vladimir Putin to President Luong Cuong on the occasion of the New Year, emphasizing that Russia always considers Vietnam one of the important partners in the Asia-Pacific region, especially in Southeast Asia, and wishes to further develop with Vietnam the areas of bilateral cooperation where both sides have strengths and needs, in order to meet the wishes of the people of the two countries and the development requirements of each country.
The President affirmed that Vietnam consistently pursues an independent, self-reliant, multilateral and diversified foreign policy, in which Russia is one of the top priorities; affirmed that the Party, State and people of Vietnam always remember the valuable support and assistance that the people of the former Soviet Union gave Vietnam in the cause of national construction and defense, always attach importance to the Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, and wish to continue to develop the traditional friendship with Russia for the development interests of the two countries and the prosperity of the two peoples.
The President thanked the Russian leaders and government for creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live, study and work stably in Russia; proposed that the Russian government continue to provide annual scholarships for Vietnamese students to study at Russian educational and training institutions, especially in basic sciences, academic arts, etc.; hoped that Russia would promote cooperation with Vietnam in promising areas such as digital transformation, digital technology industry, digital economic development, digital society, green transformation, artificial intelligence, etc.
The two leaders agreed to continue promoting cultural cooperation and people-to-people exchange in the coming time, especially between the young generations of the two countries, to enhance understanding, as well as jointly organize meaningful activities to celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries and educate the young generation about traditions.
Through Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, President Luong Cuong conveyed best wishes to President Vladimir Putin and Russian leaders.
On this occasion, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin awarded the Order of Friendship of the Russian Federation to President Luong Cuong and leaders and former leaders of the Ministry of National Defense and the Vietnam - Russia Tropical Center.
