Speaking at the meeting, on the occasion of the traditional Lunar New Year 2024, on behalf of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent his sincere feelings, warm greetings and best wishes for the New Year to Ambassadors, Heads of development cooperation agencies, international organizations, associations, enterprises and foreign investors.
The Prime Minister said that the world in 2024 will be generally peaceful but locally at war; generally peaceful but locally at war; generally stable but locally at war; generally well-off but locally at war; and partly at war, many people will be poor, suffer war, be sacrificed, and suffer losses due to natural disasters and epidemics.
“The issues happening in the world such as war, energy shortage, resource depletion, climate change, population aging, etc. are all global and national issues. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen international solidarity, promote multilateralism, and take action for the prosperous and happy life of the people. Let us act together so that there is no poverty, no war, and no one is left behind in this world,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
According to the Prime Minister, in the 20th century, Vietnam was the country that suffered the most losses and sacrifices due to the resistance war and the embargo. Therefore, Vietnam understands the value of peace and does not want war to happen anywhere and people to suffer from hunger and poverty.
In the country's development path, Vietnam relies on three pillars: building socialist democracy, a socialist rule-of-law state, and a socialist-oriented market economy. Throughout this process, Vietnam does not sacrifice social progress and equity to pursue mere economic growth; taking the people as the center, subject, goal, driving force, and resource of development.
Implementing this policy, in recent years, despite difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the impact of the world situation, Vietnam has still ensured macroeconomic stability, controlled inflation, promoted growth, ensured major balances; budget deficit, public debt, government debt, and foreign debt are under control; independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity are guaranteed; social order and safety are maintained; the fight against corruption is promoted; national defense and security are maintained; foreign affairs are a bright spot in 2023.
This result is thanks to the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, headed by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong; the efforts of the entire political system, the entire people, the companionship of the business community; the help of international friends, investors, and international sponsors.
On behalf of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, leaders of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, the Prime Minister respectfully thanks and expresses gratitude for the support of international friends throughout the process of national construction, especially in 2023. The Prime Minister hopes that international friends will unite and act with Vietnam to make everyone richer, people happier, no longer have war anywhere, no one is left behind; bring prosperity and prosperity to each country, people and for an increasingly better world; in the spirit of "harmonious interests, shared risks", "your victory is Vietnam's victory"./.
