Prime Minister suggests Guangxi continue to facilitate Vietnamese goods

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that Guangxi continue to facilitate Vietnamese goods imported into Guangxi to go deep into mainland China and to third countries.

On the afternoon of August 28, receiving Mr. Liu Ning, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress (People's Council) of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China, on the occasion of his visit and work in Vietnam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that the two sides promote the connection of transport infrastructure and soft infrastructure at border gates to increase connectivity between the two countries.

Welcoming and appreciating Mr. Liu Ning's two consecutive visits to Vietnam after assuming the position of Secretary of the Guangxi Party Committee, demonstrating Guangxi's high regard for cooperative relations with Vietnamese localities, the Prime Minister affirmed that the two Parties and two countries attach great importance to local cooperation between the two countries, and encourage and support localities of the two countries, especially border provinces/areas, to enhance friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh believes that the visit of Secretary of the Guangxi Regional Party Committee Liu Ning will achieve many substantive results, contributing to further strengthening the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between localities of the two countries, continuously enriching the content of the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, and the Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future which has strategic significance.

Secretary of the Guangxi Regional Party Committee Liu Ning expressed his joy in visiting Vietnam again, warmly congratulated Vietnam on its 79th National Day, and congratulated Vietnam on its great achievements in socio-economic development, innovation and international integration in recent times.

Expressing his appreciation for the important political achievements of the recent State visit to China by General Secretary and President To Lam, Secretary Liu Ning affirmed that the Party Committee, government and people of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region are determined to thoroughly grasp, concretize and implement the Joint Statement and common understanding reached between the top leaders of the two Parties and two countries, continue to further promote the friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation between Guangxi and Vietnamese localities, and make practical contributions to the overall relations between the two Parties and two countries.

The two sides highly appreciated the important and encouraging developments in the relations between the two Parties and the two countries of Vietnam and China and the extensive and effective cooperation between Vietnam and Guangxi in recent times with five bright spots in the fields of delegation exchanges at all levels, economic and trade cooperation, investment, transport infrastructure connection, land border management cooperation, opening and upgrading of border gates, tourism cooperation, and cultural exchange.

Trade turnover between the two sides in 2023 reached over 36 billion USD, up 29.2% over the same period, Vietnam maintained its position as Guangxi's largest trade partner for 25 years; Guangxi's accumulated investment in Vietnam reached over 1.83 billion USD; the pilot work of building smart border gates was promoted smoothly.

Expecting a more commensurate cooperation relationship with the potential and level of the relationship between the two sides, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hopes that in the coming time, the two sides will continue to focus on effectively implementing and concretizing high-level common perceptions, enhancing exchanges and contacts between levels, sectors, and people's organizations, supporting and helping each other for mutual development; actively protecting and exploiting the "red addresses" of the two countries' revolutions, especially the relics of President Ho Chi Minh in Guangxi to enhance mutual understanding and foster friendship between the two peoples. The Prime Minister hopes that the two sides will make efforts to create new breakthroughs in cooperation in the fields of substantive cooperation.

The Prime Minister proposed accelerating “hard connections” on highways and high-speed railways, especially the Lang Son-Hanoi and Mong Cai-Ha Long-Hai Phong routes connecting with Guangxi, while promoting upgrading “soft connections” on smart customs and smart border gates.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that Guangxi continue to facilitate Vietnamese goods imported into Guangxi to go deep into China and third countries, and encourage capable Guangxi enterprises to increase investment in Vietnam, especially projects on green agriculture, clean energy, and sustainable development.

The Prime Minister hopes that the two sides will actively study the model of cross-border economic cooperation zones; coordinate well in managing the land border, and jointly organize activities to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Land Border Treaty and the 15th anniversary of the signing of three legal documents on the land border.

Agreeing with the opinions of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Secretary of the Guangxi Party Committee Liu Ning affirmed his determination to promote cooperation between the two sides, expand and deepen friendly exchanges with Vietnamese localities, promote traffic connections by road, rail and sea in accordance with the scale of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries; promote the special advantages of the two sides to connect more deeply through Guangxi with mainland China, to third countries as well as through Vietnam to connect with ASEAN countries.

Secretary Liu Ning suggested that the two sides further expand the scale and improve the quality of trade and investment cooperation, improve customs clearance efficiency with the "smart border gate" model, deploy seaport cooperation, trade cooperation in electricity, digital economy, digital connectivity; strengthen border management, cooperation in crime prevention and control, cross-border epidemic prevention and control; expand and improve the quality of tourism cooperation, people-to-people exchange, education and training... contributing to consolidating and deepening the China-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership, bringing practical benefits to localities and people of both sides./.
