Thu Trang and Tien Luat announce new film project

“Who loves who loves” is the second project directed by Thu Trang, after the movie “Billion Dollar Kiss” on Tet 2025. After nearly 2 months of release, the work is still holding steady in theaters with a revenue of 211 billion VND, entering the top 10 highest-grossing Vietnamese films of all time. Thu Trang is also the only female director in the top 10 directors with the highest-grossing films in Vietnam.

Set in the West in the 60s, “Who loves who loves” tells the story of tragic fates, where people have to face the choice between love and family. Thu Trang shared that she grew up with stories about the old West - where human love is always the most precious thing, no matter how difficult and hard life is, it was those memories that inspired her to create the work, as a way to show gratitude to the land and people who nurtured her childhood.

“I am an emotional person who values ​​family and the role of women. Therefore, when making films, I always want to build and honor these good values ​​of women. I have cherished the idea of ​​the script “Who loves who loves” for a long time and now is the right time for me to make it happen - Thu Trang shared with reporters.

Meanwhile, Tien Luat - who always accompanies his wife, also puts a lot of heart into the new project. "When making this film, we not only want the audience to laugh like the previous films, but also want everyone to feel the love and affection of the Vietnamese people in the past. The West is a place we feel very close to and we want to tell this story completely" - he said.

The project is currently in the stage of surveying the setting and organizing a casting to find actors. Thu Trang hopes to find many talented faces, becoming stars in the film industry like the female director did with the trio Le Xuan Tien - Doan Thien An - Ma Ran Do in "The Billion Dollar Kiss".

"Who loves who" is expected to start filming in June 2025 and be released in theaters on Tet holiday 2026.
