Ms. Nguyen Thi Tan (43 years old, residing in Huong Dong village, Loc Yen commune, Huong Khe district) said that this year her family planted 100 grapefruit trees with an estimated total yield of about 3,000 fruits, equivalent to about 3 tons. Currently, traders come to the garden to buy at a price of 20,000 - 25,000 VND/fruit, after deducting expenses, the family expects to earn a profit of 40 - 45 million VND.
"This year, due to the prolonged drought, the grapefruits were not as big, but the quality of the grapefruits was sweeter than last year. This year, grapefruits have a good harvest and good prices, so people are very excited," Ms. Tan said happily.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Huong Khe District, the total grapefruit output this year in the district is estimated to reach more than 21,000 tons, with revenue of about 500 billion VND.
