Previously, on July 25, 2024, a serious landslide occurred in Dong Hai district. Accordingly, at about 2:00 a.m. on the same day, a 2.5m wide, 30m long concrete road (in Vinh Dien hamlet, Long Dien Tay commune) completely collapsed into the canal. After the landslide, traffic was completely cut off, and vehicles could not move. Although the landslide did not cause any human casualties, because the landslide location was adjacent to the aquaculture area of the people, it directly threatened the shrimp pond area of the people. In addition, the risk of landslides could affect the safety of the power grid, because the power poles were very close to the landslide location.

A section of rural traffic was eroded, completely cutting off traffic in Long Dien Tay commune, Dong Hai district. The area is still at risk of further landslides reaching people's shrimp farms and many electricity poles (Hoang Nam).

According to the records at the scene, a road section of over 50 m is at risk of further landslides. Initially, the cause of the landslide was determined to be due to the road section being close to the canal, with strong water flow, and landslides having occurred many times before. Immediately after the incident, Mr. Tran Tuan Kiet, Chairman of the Dong District People's Committee, inspected the scene, directed the locality to urgently mobilize forces to overcome the landslide, place warning signs, and count the extent of damage. In addition, urgently support people to reinforce points and areas at high risk of landslides, prevent landslides from spreading widely, and ensure people's assets and shrimp farming areas.
