High expectations

Binh Thuan is considered a locality with many favorable areas for developing the night-time economy following the general trend of attractive destinations on the Vietnam tourism map. In particular, the land of the South Central Coast possesses many natural landscapes, has strengths in sea and island tourism with a system of high-class accommodation facilities, unique sea and sand dune entertainment sports, rich cuisine, pleasant weather at night... Recently, the expressway section Dau Giay - Phan Thiet, Phan Thiet - Vinh Hao put into use has significantly shortened the travel time of tourists to the locality and in the near future, Phan Thiet Airport will be invested and completed.

Regarding this issue, the Project on developing the night-time economy in Binh Thuan province until 2030 has been held by the locality to discuss and collect opinions in order to complete it before officially implementing it. Thereby, it is determined that this is an inseparable part of the economy, so developing the night-time economy in the province also aims to promote consumption and develop tourism. Especially through focusing on developing the field of cultural services, entertainment, including activities: Culture - art, music, entertainment programs, festivals, events... Or such as food and beverage services (restaurants, bars), shopping services (at markets, shopping areas) and tourism (visiting tourist attractions, cultural relics, architectural works...) taking place between 6:00 p.m. the previous night and 6:00 a.m. the next morning.

The launch of the Night-time Economic Development Project in Binh Thuan Province by 2030 also aims to promote the strong development of local night-time economic activities, building Phan Thiet - Mui Ne and tourist destinations into vibrant and attractive destinations. At the same time, it meets the needs of working, entertainment, shopping, enjoying cuisine, and experiencing nightlife of both locals and tourists. Thereby contributing to promoting the strong development of services and tourism in the province and truly becoming a spearhead industry, affirming itself as one of the three economic pillars of Binh Thuan...

With many favorable factors, the night-time economy, when promoted, is also expected to have a direct impact on the development of the tourism industry in particular and the socio-economic development of the province in general. Because in practice, the development of the night-time economy in most destinations that attract domestic and foreign tourists brings opportunities and development momentum to the economy, especially tourism development. In the short term, it can bring economic benefits through creating more jobs, rebuilding and developing urban areas, encouraging domestic consumption, extending the length of stay as well as increasing the spending of tourists. Therefore, the night-time economy not only contributes positively to the growth of the trade and service sector but also spreads to a number of other areas such as industry, agriculture, etc. through infrastructure development, promoting investment and production.

Piloting soon

Night-time economic development in Binh Thuan aims to deploy a pilot model in some suitable areas in Phan Thiet City, La Gi Town and Phu Quy, Tuy Phong, Bac Binh, Ham Thuan Nam districts in the 2023 - 2025 period. Next, in the 2026 - 2030 period, the results of night-time economic development in localities participating in the pilot will be evaluated and the orientation and model for night-time economic development in Binh Thuan will be completed. Thereby, calling for investment and developing projects to serve the night-time economy, conducting surveys, determining suitable locations and areas of localities in the province to organize exploitation to serve the night-time economy.

Chairing the meeting to discuss the development of the night-time economy in Binh Thuan held in early mid-August, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Hai assigned Phan Thiet City to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Binh Thuan Tourism Association to make efforts to implement night-time economic products in the coastal tourist city in the fourth quarter of 2023. According to the orientation, it can initially be deployed in the area along both sides of Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street - Ham Tien Ward (from Ca Ty Tourist Area to Saigon - Mui Ne Tourist Area) on weekends. In addition, a pilot model of night-time economic development in the central area of Phan Thiet City is also considered, such as on Nguyen Tat Thanh - Le Duan Street or on both sides of the Ca Ty River (Pham Van Dong Street north of the river and Trung Trac Street south of the river). For areas with night-time economic activities invested by large enterprises, the locality also allows pilot organization in some key qualified tourist and resort areas such as NovaWorld Phan Thiet (Tien Thanh commune - Phan Thiet city), Thanh Long Bay resort complex (Tan Thanh commune - Ham Thuan Nam district)...

It is known that the products serving the night-time economic development model are oriented to focus on cultural and entertainment services such as forming large-scale entertainment areas, night markets, walking streets, shows, bars - discos. Or organizing a series of typical night-time events such as light festivals, water music, fireworks... and building separate and attractive night-time entertainment complexes. For food and beverage services, specialized streets for food business, seafood markets, coastal culinary spaces will be formed, while shopping services will call for investment in large-scale commercial centers, night markets with the unique identity of each locality. Particularly, night-time tourism services focus on diversifying types of city sightseeing tours both on land and by water, organizing night-time sightseeing services at museums, historical and cultural sites, large tourist areas...

Showing determination, the People's Committee of Phan Thiet City, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Provincial Tourism Association will coordinate to prepare and pilot the model in the first month of the last quarter of this year. This is also the time when many exciting events take place in response to the National Tourism Year 2023 - Binh Thuan - Green Convergence and celebrate the anniversary of Binh Thuan Tourism Day (October 24), entering the peak season to welcome international visitors... Through organizing a variety of activities highlighting the local colors, the destination of Binh Thuan will increase its appeal and gradually meet all the needs of entertainment, dining, sightseeing, and night shopping of tourists when they have a vacation here.
