In the midst of the historic April days, the people of Lien Son once again reminisced about their beloved Uncle Ho. The words “Forever grateful to the great President Ho Chi Minh” were carved on the hillside as a solemn oath to the father of the nation, associated with the aspiration for peace and national unity.
The inscription has become a sacred symbol, marking the infinite gratitude of the people here to beloved Uncle Ho and today has become the pride of the people of Lien Son commune.
In 1969, the entire Vietnamese nation was immersed in boundless grief upon hearing the news that beloved President Ho Chi Minh had passed away. Amidst the countless incense sticks of remembrance, amidst the thousands of ways to express the pain and sorrow of millions of hearts, in Lien Son commune, Lap Thach district, a special symbol was quietly created by the people here.
On provincial road 307, on the green hillside, the embossed words "Forever grateful to the great President Ho Chi Minh" are deeply engraved in the ground, becoming a vivid testament to the deep affection and infinite gratitude of the people of Vinh Phuc in particular and the whole country in general towards the great leader of the nation. Through many rainy and sunny seasons, the embossed words still retain their original shape, like a sacred oath, a steadfast affection that does not fade over time.
The inscription is not only a symbol of grief but also an affirmation of President Ho Chi Minh’s great contributions to the cause of national liberation and unification. Over half a century, the inscription has become a red address educating revolutionary traditions for generations. Every time they look at the inscription, the people here appreciate the historical values, remember the great merit of Uncle Ho and cherish the value of independence and peace.
Cherishing the value of independence, right after the country's reunification, the people of Lien Son started competing in labor production, becoming the leading locality in Lap Thach district in terms of rice and corn productivity, and in 1979, the commune was given 5 trucks of fish fry by the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Management Board. Therefore, the fish pond right across the road, under the inscription "Forever grateful to the great President Ho Chi Minh", was affectionately named Uncle Ho's fish pond by the people of the commune.
Today, the children of Lien Son always remember Uncle Ho's contributions to the cause of national liberation. And they understand that to have independence and freedom today, it is the sacrifice, the exchange of countless blood of generations of fathers and ancestors . To preserve historical values and show gratitude for the contributions of their ancestors, the government and people of Lien Son commune have been and are making efforts to build a rich and beautiful homeland, worthy of the title of Heroic commune.
The inscription “Forever grateful to the great President Ho Chi Minh” is not only a symbolic work, the pride of every Lien Son resident, but also a reminder of a heroic period, the aspiration for peace and national unification of the Vietnamese people.
