In fact, after the Asian Badminton Championship ended, Le Duc Phat already knew that he would win the ticket. This player ranked 35th in the qualifying round at that time in the context of no more important tournaments (capable of making a big difference in points) until the final ranking today.
To win a ticket to the Olympics, Le Duc Phat had to go through a difficult journey. This tennis player was injured at the end of 2023 and was kicked out of the Olympic group. However, he returned when participating in a series of International Challenge tournaments in January and February. Le Duc Phat even traveled to Africa to compete, accumulating points one by one.
Le Duc Phat’s efforts have paid off. He won the Uganda International Challenge and reached the semi-finals of the Kazakhstan International Challenge. Thanks to that, Vietnam’s number one badminton player has advanced to the Olympic group.
Thus, Le Duc Phat is the 10th athlete of Vietnamese sports to win tickets to the 2024 Olympics. Previously, Nguyen Thi That (cycling); Trinh Thu Vinh, Le Thi Mong Tuyen (shooting); Nguyen Huy Hoang (swimming); Vo Thi Kim Anh (boxing); Nguyen Thi Huong (canoeing); Pham Thi Hue (rowing), Trinh Van Vinh (weightlifting) and Nguyen Thuy Linh (badminton) won tickets.
