Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Algeria Tran Quoc Khanh highlighted the great achievements that Vietnam has made over the past nearly 80 years.

According to Ambassador Tran Quoc Khanh, every nation has its own glorious historical milestones to be proud of. For the Vietnamese people, September 2, 1945 is an extremely important day. President Ho Chi Minh read the historic “Declaration of Independence”, solemnly announcing to the world the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam). The spirit of “nothing is more precious than independence and freedom” in the Declaration was spread as a slogan to encourage the relentless struggle for independence and national liberation of the Vietnamese people as well as oppressed peoples around the world.

Vietnam has now become one of the 40 most dynamic economies in the world, a reliable destination for international investors. Vietnam is one of the world's largest exporters of rice, coffee, textiles and electronic products. In the first 7 months of 2024, Vietnam welcomed more than 9 million international tourists. With the desire to contribute to peace and development in the world, Vietnam has diplomatic relations with 193 countries in the world, including strategic partnerships and comprehensive partnerships with 30 countries.

Speaking about the bilateral relationship, Ambassador Tran Quoc Khanh said that Vietnam and Algeria are two brotherly countries. The special friendship between the two countries originates from the history of revolutions, from the rapprochement of hearts, despite the geographical distance, between the two peoples. The Ambassador highlighted the achievements of the 12th Session of the Vietnam-Algeria Joint Commission in October 2023; bilateral trade increased by 68% last year; the agreement to expand Vietnam's investment in the oil and gas sector signed between the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) and the Algerian National Agency for the Management of Petroleum Resources (ALNAFT) last July; the meeting between the two Foreign Ministers recently held within the framework of the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly; or the happy life of families with mixed Vietnamese and Algerian blood... These are some typical examples showing the great prospects for cooperation between the two sides. Not only stopping there, cooperation between the two countries is continuing to expand into the fields of pharmaceutical production, renewable energy, high-tech agriculture as well as Halal-certified agricultural products...

On the occasion of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune's re-election for a second term, Ambassador Tran Quoc Khanh also sent his warmest congratulations to the Algerian people. The Ambassador affirmed that in the past, Vietnam and Algeria stood side by side in the struggle for national independence, and today the two countries will continue to walk together on the path of national construction and development.
