Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan works with businesses: Determined to achieve economic growth of over 8.5%

(BD) - On April 18, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan chaired a working session with large enterprises, branches of corporations, general companies and industry associations in the industrial and commercial sector to listen, remove difficulties, promote growth solutions, aiming to complete the province's GRDP growth target of over 8.5% in 2025.

At the meeting, the representative of the Department of Industry and Trade said: The Industrial Production Index (IIP) in the first quarter of 2025 reached 9.46%. Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue reached VND 29,653 billion, up 8% over the same period. Export turnover is estimated at 452.4 million USD, up 8.3% over the same period. In particular, the wood industry continues to play a key role, accounting for 67% of export turnover, with wood products alone increasing by 27%.

However, many businesses are still facing many challenges. Industry associations have reported slow VAT refunds, high input costs, credit interest rates that have not decreased significantly, and many export orders being delayed, especially in the US market. Some opinions have pointed out problems related to fire prevention standards that are not suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises, requirements from the EU's EUDR policy, environmental permits, as well as the shortage of technical workers.

Listening to the recommendations, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan shared the difficulties with the business community, and affirmed that the province will accompany and proactively support to remove obstacles to maintain orders, expand markets, and stabilize production. The Chairman emphasized: The growth target of over 8.5% is a key task. To achieve it, there needs to be strong coordination between the government and businesses. The more difficult it is, the more businesses need support, while banks still put profits first.

At the conference, leaders of departments and branches answered some specific problems for enterprises. In that spirit, Chairman of the province Pham Anh Tuan directed: Department of Finance, Tax Department of Region XIII to handle tax refund problems. State Bank of Region X proposed special credit policies to support enterprises; Department of Industry and Trade studied the extension of bank debts, social insurance debts and reviewed and adjusted fire prevention and fighting standards to suit the reality of small enterprises.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan specifically responded: Assign the Department of Construction and the Economic Zone Management Board to study and adjust the construction density at Nhon Hoa Industrial Park within the legal limits; agree to the proposal to receive ships up to 70,000 DWT if safety is ensured, request Quy Nhon Port and the Port Authority to urgently report to request license adjustment; the province continues to support trade promotion, study VAT reduction, and regulate reasonable interest rates; at the same time, request enterprises to proactively expand the supporting industrial cluster according to the province's development orientation with Kamado Industrial Joint Stock Company. Regarding Takao Binh Dinh Joint Stock Company, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested sectors to encourage enterprises to use local products, survey the market to adjust the scale of construction material production appropriately. Regarding Vinamilk Binh Dinh Dairy Factory, the province welcomes the proposal to coordinate in bringing milk to schools, assigning the Department of Education and Training to preside over the implementation.

Regarding the distribution system, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee highly appreciated the role of Co.opmart Quy Nhon Supermarket, assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to coordinate in implementing the program "Binh Dinh people use Binh Dinh products", support communication, put local products on supermarket shelves, and stimulate domestic consumption.

At the end of the working session, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to continue to closely monitor market developments, orders and production capacity of enterprises, periodically report to the Provincial People's Committee for appropriate direction and policy adjustment. Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan also emphasized the requirement to strongly reform administrative procedures, cut unnecessary costs for enterprises; promote trade promotion. The province will continue to organize investment and trade promotion delegations in potential markets to pave the way for enterprises. At the same time, accelerate logistics development, improve industrial cluster infrastructure, support credit, technical human resources and prioritize domestic products in major projects of the province. Enterprises research to expand production and new industries in the province; focus on solutions to expand the market in the direction of digital transformation, saving costs.

With the spirit of "Creative Government - Developing Enterprises", the Provincial People's Committee is determined to successfully achieve the growth target for 2025, creating a foundation for sustainable economic development in the coming period.
