Provincial delegation visits Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant project (Quang Binh province)

On the afternoon of April 18, a delegation of Quang Ninh province led by Mr. Vu Dai Thang, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, visited the Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant project (in Quang Trach district, Quang Binh province). This is one of the national key projects in the energy sector. Accompanying the delegation were Mr. Cao Tuong Huy, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee; and leaders of a number of provincial departments and branches.

The provincial delegation visited the items being invested in and constructed at Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant (in Vinh Son village, Quang Dong commune, Quang Trach) . This is one of the largest thermal power plants in the country.

The project has a total area of about 48.6 hectares belonging to Quang Trach Power Center, with a total investment of 41,130 billion VND, equivalent to 1.86 billion USD (including 30% capital of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) and 70% domestic commercial loan capital). The project was approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 428/QD-TTg, dated March 18, 2016 on adjusting the National Power Development Plan for the period 2011-2020, with a vision to 2030 (adjusted Plan VII).

The Provincial Party Secretary and the provincial delegation visited the coal import port and breakwater of the Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant project.

The Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant Project consists of 2 units with a total capacity of 1,200 MW. When put into operation, it will provide the national power system with an annual electricity output of about 8.4 billion kWh. The plant uses a direct-flow boiler, burning pulverized coal (PC) directly, a conventional condensing steam turbine, and supercritical steam parameters. The concentration of substances in exhaust gas and wastewater before being discharged into the environment not only meets the environmental protection regulations and standards of current Vietnamese law but also meets the standards of the World Bank (WB). On the other hand, the ash and slag of the Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant is a clean material used in many other industries and has been ordered for consumption by a number of units in the region.

Quang Trach I Thermal Power Plant is considered to be one of the key projects, playing an important role in promoting and creating a strong breakthrough for socio-economic development, promoting economic restructuring of Quang Binh province and increasing revenue for the state budget by about 1,200 billion VND/year. The project started construction in December 2021 and currently the overall progress of the project is over 80%.
