Young city Tan Uyen continues to break through, towards a modern urban area

Reporter (PV): Dear comrade, what outstanding achievements has Tan Uyen town achieved to be upgraded to a city?

Comrade Bui Minh Tri: In the past time, despite facing many difficulties and challenges, with the spirit of solidarity, high determination, and great efforts of the entire Party Committee, government, and people, Tan Uyen has achieved many very important achievements. That is, the average annual economic growth rate reached nearly 12.6%, technical infrastructure was invested and completed, the economic structure shifted positively and in the right direction, and the annual budget revenue met and exceeded the set target.

In 2022, in the difficult context due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, Tan Uyen still welcomed nearly 290 domestic enterprises with a total registered capital of nearly 990 billion VND and 10 foreign enterprises with a total registered capital of nearly 55 million USD... Up to now, the locality no longer has poor households according to the Central standards, the cultural and social fields have received comprehensive attention for development. The material and spiritual life of the people is increasingly improved. The fields of national defense and security are maintained, social order and safety are ensured, contributing to favorable conditions for attracting investment and developing the economy and society.

One of the important factors that leverage Tan Uyen to be recognized as a provincial city is the systematic and large-scale investment in building key traffic works, connecting with the provincial and regional traffic systems. After nearly 10 years of implementation, the urban technical infrastructure system in Tan Uyen City has been invested in and built in a synchronous, civilized and modern direction. Tan Uyen has been recognized as a type III urban area in Decision No. 1504/QD-BXD dated November 20, 2018 of the Minister of Construction.

PV: How will the establishment of Tan Uyen City create new momentum for the locality, sir?

Comrade Bui Minh Tri: Tan Uyen City was officially established under Resolution No. 725/NQ-UBTVQH15 dated February 13, 2023 of the National Assembly Standing Committee (effective from April 10, 2023). Tan Uyen City will develop into a central urban area in the South of Binh Duong Province, a core urban area of the Ho Chi Minh City region. Accordingly, the system of technical infrastructure and social infrastructure of Tan Uyen City will continue to be invested in and built synchronously and completely such as: Housing, traffic, water supply and drainage, environmental sanitation, works serving social security, etc.

Being upgraded to a city will be an opportunity and a good foundation for Tan Uyen to promote investment attraction, create a breakthrough in economic growth, contribute to accelerating economic restructuring, developing industry, trade, services and urbanization, and be the driving force for the development of the southern region of the province. In addition, this is an opportunity for investors to continue to expand the scale of production and business in the area, contributing to increasing local budget revenue, creating favorable conditions for increasing investment for economic development. The city's investment attraction policies will also promote the strengths of Tan Uyen's geographical location and natural conditions, and at the same time, better utilize external resources for socio-economic development, creating spillovers to administrative units in Binh Duong province.

PV: Completing the project to establish Tan Uyen City is a highlight from the open policy, paving the way for the industrialization and modernization process of Binh Duong. Could you please tell us about the city's development orientations in the coming time?

Comrade Bui Minh Tri: Tan Uyen City has a strategic location, an important area in terms of politics, military, economy, culture, society, favorable for attracting investment in industry, services, trade... In the period of 2021-2025, Tan Uyen determines the development perspective to continue to exploit new advantages and potentials, mobilize maximum resources to invest in developing economic-technical-social infrastructure in the direction of developing industry-services-urban-urban agriculture, focusing on promoting trade-service development. The connecting space between Tan Uyen urban area and Binh Duong urban area as well as Ho Chi Minh City and Bien Hoa City will be connected to form a southern metropolis of the country, an important traffic hub of the province and the region.

In the coming time, Tan Uyen City has determined its goal to build and develop into a major center in the South, focusing on urbanization according to planning, civilization, modernity, diversifying high-quality services, playing a driving role in promoting the province's sustainable socio-economic development. In the new journey, with new determination, the Party Committee, government and people of Tan Uyen City continue to unite, innovate, be proactive, creative, strive to build the city, determined to make more breakthroughs, bringing the city to a type II urban area before 2025.
