Hue City: GRDP growth rate in the first quarter is estimated at 9.9%

Implementing Resolution No. 25/NQ-CP of the Government on growth targets for sectors, fields and localities, ensuring the national growth target in 2025 reaches 8% or more; in which, the Government assigns the GRDP growth target in 2025 of Hue city to reach 8.5%.

However, in order to ensure the completion of the growth target of the City Party Congress Resolution (from 7.5% - 8.5%) and create a solid foundation to achieve a double-digit growth rate for the period 2026 - 2030, the City People's Committee has submitted to the City Party Committee to adjust the GRDP growth target in 2025 to reach 10% or more.

According to the announcement of the General Statistics Office, the first quarter's socio-economic development results show that the GRDP economic growth rate in the first quarter is estimated at 9.9%. This high growth rate will create the foundation and driving force for growth of 10% or more in 2025.

The service sector with many unique cultural festival activities was organized, especially the very successful organization of the Opening Ceremony of the National Tourism Year associated with the Hue Festival created a highlight, stimulating tourism in the first months of the year.

In the first quarter, the number of visitors to Hue is estimated at nearly 1.5 million, up 62% over the same period; of which, international visitors are estimated at more than 650 thousand, up nearly 50%; tourism revenue is estimated at more than VND 2,600 billion, up 53% over the same period.

The index of industrial production (IIP) in the first quarter is estimated to increase by 16.4% over the same period (the same period in 2024 increased by 1.2%).

The city has granted new licenses to 9 projects and adjusted capital increases for 2 investment projects with a total registered investment capital of nearly 22,000 billion VND (including 3 FDI projects with registered capital of 8.7 million USD).

State budget revenue in the first quarter is estimated at VND3,520 billion, equal to 28.5% of the estimate and up 28% over the same period. Disbursement of the 2025 public investment plan is VND1,017,403 billion/VND4,521,304 billion, accounting for 23% of the plan, currently higher than the national average and among the top 10 localities.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee, said that in the coming time, the City will strengthen the direction, monitoring and urging of the implementation of economic growth targets in 2025 to reach 10% or more.

Currently, we are focusing on implementing the Central Government's direction on rearranging and reorganizing administrative units at the commune and district levels, and are expected to submit it to the Steering Committee and the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee for comments before April 10. We are focusing on reviewing, arranging, and relocating headquarters, handling public assets after rearranging the apparatus, and building a two-level local government model according to the direction of competent authorities.

At the same time, synchronously and effectively implement Resolution No. 57 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation, identifying this as a new growth driver to achieve the double-digit growth target for the 2026 - 2030 period.

Focus on coordinating the successful organization of the National Tourism Year and Hue Festival 2025 to create highlights and stimulate domestic and international tourism.
