Thanh Lam and Thuy Dung board the 'youth train' with 90s bands

Veteran singers Thanh Lam, Thuy Dung, Thanh Tam and more than 100 famous artists of the past will join their voices at the "Capital Alumni Gala" taking place on the evening of April 12 at the campus of the old University of General Sciences (now the University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, 19 Le Thanh Tong, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi.

Sharing with the press on March 26, Ms. Nguyen My Trang, Deputy General Director of My Thanh Company, a member of the Organizing Committee, said that the program has the participation of more than 100 famous singers, dancers, and models from the 90s such as: Musician Quoc Trung and the Phuong Dong band; musician Thanh Phuong and the Thoi Gian band; Wild Horse band; ABBA Vietnam group; dance groups Big Toe, CO, ZigZag; singers Thanh Lam, Thanh Tam, Thuy Dung, Dinh Lan Huong, Tung John, Long Vu, Ngo Viet Khoi, Le Tien Dat, Lien Trinh...

In the 1990s, international music penetrated and exploded in the cultural and entertainment life of Vietnamese youth, creating an endless wave of passion for The Beatles, Queen, ABBA, Smokie, Bee Gees, Boney M, Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, Deep Purple, Metallica...

Along with music, the lifestyle and fashion style of famous singers and bands at that time became popular cultural icons, bringing many positive influences, giving Vietnamese students great inspiration and a strong love for music and life.

Also during this period, the movement of organizing student proms was extremely vibrant, especially in the capital Hanoi, attracting the participation of tens of thousands of students from many universities and becoming the most popular cultural, artistic and entertainment activity for young people at that time.

Now, they are in their 50s and 60s, have become famous artists, intellectuals, successful businessmen, occupying many important positions in society but still have a great love for music.

This band reunion also has the participation of many Gen Z artists, bringing a fresh atmosphere and energy, inspiring a large number of young people who love the Retro style.

“The Capital Alumni Gala” will be a youthful journey, recreating the vibrant, explosive atmosphere of university campuses and dormitories in the past, while spreading passion and positive energy to attendees and the whole society.

Musician Quoc Trung humorously said that this program will be a healthy playground for aging artists.

“Musical activities during our student years have a great influence on each of our musical careers later on. I consider this upcoming stage a meaningful occasion for the Phuong Dong band and singer Thanh Lam to reunite with their colleagues,” musician Quoc Trung shared./.
