"The Vietnamese team entered the match with a relaxed mentality but also with a bit of pressure. That is natural when entering a big match. The whole team is determined to unite and overcome this difficult period. With a victory, the Vietnamese team will relieve the pressure," Vu Van Thanh answered an interview this morning (November 14) before the Vietnamese team's training session.

Coach Philippe Troussier and his players are facing a lot of pressure. After the first friendly matches under the new coach, applying a new playing style with a new squad, the Vietnamese team has not reached its best form. However, Van Thanh believes that when entering the official tournament, he and his teammates will perform better.

"It was a difficult period for the whole team before, when the players did not understand the head coach's philosophy. After 8 months of concentration, now everything is running more smoothly," said the defender of the Hanoi Police Club.

"The difficulty for the Vietnamese team is to know how to play better against teams that defend together. Previously, it was difficult for the Vietnamese team to launch attacks, but now they have to control the ball, move more, connect with each other and have the best information to receive the ball."

The Vietnamese team faced the Philippines in the first match of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in Asia. Coach Troussier and his team had to play away from home with many disadvantages, while the team's performance has not yet convinced fans.

However, Van Thanh affirmed that the Vietnamese team has enough desire to overcome this difficult period.

" Every player coming here has a great desire. That is the bright spot in recent years of the Vietnamese team. With such a desire and effort, in the upcoming journey, the Vietnamese team can go further," Van Thanh shared.
