From virtual world to passion for science
Cong used to be a boy who was passionate about the world of games, spending hours in front of the computer screen, forgetting about studying. But one day, when his parents decided to sell the computer, Cong was forced to find a new hobby. And that was Physics - a world full of challenges, logic and difficult problems just like the strategy games he used to love.

Surpass yourself
Success did not come immediately. In grade 11, Cong participated in the Asian Physics Olympiad but only won a Bronze Medal. Many people may be satisfied with this achievement, but for Cong, it was a motivation to try harder.

He threw himself into studying with high intensity, researching more deeply into difficult problems, especially practicing experimental skills. If before, Cong could stay up all night to play games, now he stays up all night to solve difficult Physics problems. His tireless efforts helped him win the Gold Medal at the Asian Physics Olympiad in grade 12, then continued to excel and bring home the Gold Medal at the International Physics Olympiad.
Than The Cong (born 2006) is an excellent student, in the top 19 nominees for the 'Outstanding Young Vietnamese Faces 2024' Award.
Last school year, Than The Cong won the Gold Medal at the International Physics Olympiad and the Gold Medal at the Asian Physics Olympiad, and the First Prize for National Excellent Students. Cong was honored to receive the Second Class Labor Medal from the President.
With this victory, Than The Cong not only asserted himself but also contributed to raising the position of Vietnamese students in the international arena.
From International Champion to Hanoi University of Science and Technology Student
After making his mark at the Olympics, Cong did not choose to study abroad as many people thought. Instead, he decided to study at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, one of the leading technical schools in Vietnam. The reason is very simple: Cong wanted to study, research and develop in his hometown environment, where there are many opportunities to contribute to the country's science and technology.

Currently, Cong is a first-year student majoring in Computer Science at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, continuing his journey of pursuing his passion for research in semiconductor technology and artificial intelligence. He hopes to develop “Make in Vietnam” technology products in the future, helping Vietnam take further steps in the 4.0 industrial revolution.
Cong's journey is a clear example of the saying: "It doesn't matter where you come from, it matters how far you go." From a boy who loved games, Cong found his passion, made constant efforts to rise up and achieve success.
