Mao Khe Coal Company is the most difficult mine of Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV) due to complex geological conditions and methane gas content classified as super-class. However, for many years, this mine has always maintained labor safety, no serious labor accidents, maintained production and business efficiency and attracted high-quality human resources. This place is also a bright spot of TKV in caring for the material and spiritual life and good treatment for workers. Thanks to that, for the past 3 consecutive years, Mao Khe Coal is one of the few enterprises nationwide to achieve the title "Typical enterprise for workers".
To achieve the title "Enterprise for workers", in addition to effective production management methods, Mao Khe Coal has attached importance to and promoted emulation and reward work within the enterprise, promoting the spirit of dedication of miners.
Mr. Nguyen Van Vinh, Chairman of the Company's Trade Union, said: In 2023, in the first awarding round, Mao Khe Coal Company honored 461 individuals with the Mao Khe Mine Star titles. These are people who have worked continuously in mining workshops, tunneling and other occupational groups, have worked at the Company for 21-25 years or more, and have many useful initiatives and solutions in labor production. This year, to encourage the emulation spirit of employees, the company is continuing to rank and honor the mine stars according to the above criteria.
As one of the underground coal mining units with a long history and large mining scale of TTKV, Mao Khe Coal is also the mine with the most difficult production conditions of TKV, especially in terms of mine gas and the risk of water leaking in the tunnels. However, the unit has made efforts every day, overcoming risks to maintain production. Each officer, worker, and miner of Mao Khe always identifies labor safety as a vital task, only when there is safety can production be produced. At the same time, investing and upgrading technical infrastructure and modern mining technology to improve the working environment.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan, Director of the Company said: Currently, from the transportation, exploitation, tunnel digging to the movement of workers in the mine, the Company has invested in equipment and mechanical technology. Manually supported tunnels are no longer used, replaced by hydraulic supports, which are unlikely to collapse. Systems of machines, scrapers, conveyors, hydraulic excavators, pneumatic drills, etc. replace all manual labor stages. Workers who have reduced direct labor will also reduce the risk of safety incidents.

In addition, the labor safety management model of Mao Khe Coal always ensures a strict, scientific, and methodical process, which is known by heart from leaders to workers. Adhering to this model has also helped Mao Khe maintain labor safety for many years, despite increasingly difficult production conditions. The production area of Mao Khe Coal Company - TKV is mainly concentrated at -150m and is continuing to clear the coal layer down to a depth of -400m below sea level. At great depths, the construction and production area of the mine faces many difficulties and complexities. Not only the leadership team, but also the mine workers have determined that they will have to make more efforts during this period so that the mine can operate stably.
To compensate for the hardships of its workers, Mao Khe Coal Company always focuses on taking care of working conditions, housing conditions and the spiritual life quality of its workers and miners.
Like other underground mines in TKV, Mao Khe workers' salaries are paid according to the product. To motivate workers, Mao Khe Coal has established a salary incentive bonus level according to the nature of the work of each unit. The salary incentive level is paid in cash every month. For the mining and tunneling workshop, the incentive level is 30 million VND; the remaining workshops will receive an incentive bonus of 15-20 million VND/month. Workers with outstanding achievements are also visited and given gifts by workshop and company leaders. This close and practical concern has motivated the workers to try harder at work.
To encourage the workers’ spirit, Mao Khe Coal leaders also regularly direct the trade union, youth union and units to organize cultural, artistic and sports activities for workers. On occasions such as Lunar New Year, Children’s Day, Mid-Autumn Festival, Vietnamese Women’s Day, Vietnamese Family Day, etc., Mao Khe Mine Park is bustling and vibrant with programs organized specifically for mine workers and their children.
With its efforts and effective methods, Mao Khe Coal has always been a bright spot of TKV in all aspects: production and business, maintaining a green environment, ensuring safety, and taking care of workers' lives. These are also the "plus points" that help the Company win the title of Outstanding Enterprise for Workers in the honoring periods.

Recently, in Hanoi, Mao Khe Coal became one of 67 enterprises nationwide to receive the title of Outstanding Enterprise for Employees in 2024. The program was organized by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in coordination with the Ministry of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, and the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI). In the 9 evaluation criteria of the 2024 Enterprise for Employees ranking criteria, Mao Khe Coal all met and exceeded the standard; especially the criteria on salary, allowances, subsidies and bonuses, occupational safety and hygiene, trade unions, etc. This is the third consecutive year that the enterprise has won this title, affirming the capacity and brand of Mao Khe Coal in the business community nationwide in general and the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group in particular.
