La Son Phu Tu Nguyen Thiep Temple is now located in Luy village, Kim Song Truong commune (Can Loc, Ha Tinh), his hometown. In the photo: The entrance to the temple.
Nguyen Thiep Temple was formerly located in a high residential area, next to the inter-commune road. Previously, the temple was a house in the shape of the letter Nhat (一), with a truss structure, a roof covered with conical tiles, divided into 3 compartments. In 2016, with the support of the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV), the relic was restored and embellished with a total cost of 9.6 billion VND.
The Nguyen Thiep temple relic has an area of 1,260 m2 , including: the main temple worshiping La Son Phu Tu Nguyen Thiep, the temple worshiping Thanh Hoang of the village, the left and right houses, the garden... In the photo: The main temple is a 3-room house, the front is a panel door system. Connecting the rafters together is a system of longitudinal beams mortised into the top of the columns, creating a load-bearing frame for the entire structure.
Inside the temple, the altar of La Son Phu Tu is solemnly displayed in the main hall with horizontal lacquered boards and parallel sentences in Chinese characters gilded with gold.

In memory of the great contributions of La Son Phu Tu Nguyen Thiep, the descendants of the family and the people of the surrounding area day and night burn incense to worship their ancestors.
In addition to the main shrine, in the premises of the National Historical Site of La Son Phu Tu Temple, there is also a co-worshiping structure for the Thanh Hoang of the ancient Mat village, now Luy hamlet, Kim Song Truong commune (Can Loc). With many historical and cultural values, in 1994, La Son Phu Tu Nguyen Thiep Temple was ranked as a national historical relic by the Ministry of Culture and Information (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism).
Nguyen Thiep (1723 - 1804) was born into a family with a tradition of literature and mandarin education in Mat village, Nguyet Ao commune, Lai Thach canton, La Son district, Nghe An province, now Kim Song Truong commune (Can Loc, Ha Tinh). His real name was Minh, his pen name was Quang Thiep, his pen name was La Son Phu Tu, people called him Mr. Hanh Am, Mr. Nguyet Ao, Mr. Luc Nien. In his youth, he was a man of “bright natural talent, widely learned, and deeply knowledgeable”. In the year of Quy Hoi (1743), he passed the Huong Giai examination. Bored with the times, he did not become an official but lived in seclusion, reading books. In the year of Mau Thin (1743), he passed the Tam Truong examination, then became Anh Do's instructor and Thanh Chuong district chief. In the year of Mau Ty (1767), he resigned from office. La Son Phu Tu Nguyen Thiep was invited by Quang Trung Nguyen Hue three times to help the country and give advice on how to fight the enemy. However, it was not until the third time, at the end of 1788, when Nguyen Hue went to Bac Ha to fight the Qing army, that Nguyen Thiep agreed to give advice to help King Quang Trung defeat the 290,000 Qing invaders. After the victory, he was in charge of overseeing the examinations, choosing the land to establish the capital, and serving as the Director of the Sung Chinh Institute. Nguyen Thiep was a philosopher who made many contributions to the Tay Son Dynasty. With noble virtue, profound wisdom and ardent patriotism, he contributed to helping King Quang Trung liberate the country and revive the nation. |
