Thai Binh - Tra Vinh: Continue to unite and cooperate for mutual development

On the afternoon of June 22, the working delegation of the Standing Committee of Tra Vinh Provincial Party Committee led by Comrade Ngo Chi Cuong, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Tra Vinh Province, worked with the Standing Committee of Thai Binh Provincial Party Committee to exchange experiences in leadership and direction of Party building, socio-economic development; towards the 65th anniversary of the twinning relationship between Thai Binh and Tra Vinh provinces "Loyal, steadfast - imbued with love".

On behalf of the Standing Committee of Thai Binh Provincial Party Committee, comrade Ngo Dong Hai, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, delivered a speech welcoming the delegation of the Standing Committee of Tra Vinh Provincial Party Committee to visit and work in Thai Binh, sharing the sentiments of love, loyalty and steadfastness between the two provinces.

He emphasized: The two provinces of Thai Binh and Tra Vinh have a traditional relationship of close ties, deep affection and affection, built and developed from the difficult and fierce years of the resistance war against the US to save the country. In recent years, both provinces have overcome difficulties, risen in socio-economic development to become bright spots in the Red River Delta and the Mekong Delta. Today's meeting and working session is an extremely important event of the two provinces of Thai Binh and Tra Vinh, aiming to promote the cultural traditions, patriotism, revolutionary heroism, national pride, create solidarity, consensus and trust of the people of the two provinces of Thai Binh and Tra Vinh in the cause of national construction and defense, the path of innovation, industrialization and modernization led by the Party. This is also an important step towards the 65th anniversary of the twinning between the two provinces of Thai Binh and Tra Vinh in the coming time.

He affirmed that, through the revolutionary stages, from the fierce war period in the Southern battlefield, Thai Binh - Tra Vinh, where was the solid rear, where was the heroic front line, the two provinces always showed the spirit of "loyalty and steadfastness - imbued with affection" which was included in the song "Two Sisters" with the historical lyrics "Miss Ba Dung Si was from Tra Vinh/Miss Hai Nam Tan was from Thai Binh".

He affirmed that coming to Thai Binh and visiting units and localities in the province, the working delegation of the Standing Committee of the Tra Vinh Provincial Party Committee was very happy and excited about the remarkable development of Thai Binh. Reminiscing about history and being proud of the brotherhood between the two provinces, the responsibility of today's generation is to preserve and nurture that brotherhood forever green, sustainable and reaching new heights, more practical and effective in the future.

The comrades affirmed that, with the similarities in natural conditions of the Red River Delta and the Mekong Delta and the aspiration to rise up, in recent years the socio-economic development of Thai Binh and Tra Vinh provinces has had comprehensive development.

For Thai Binh, the average growth rate of gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in the 3 years of 2021 - 2023 reached 8.18% (in 2021, it increased by 6.68%, ranking 14th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide; in 2022, it increased by 9.52%, ranking 6th out of 11 provinces and cities in the Red River Delta and 18th nationwide; in 2023, it increased by 7.37%, ranking 7th in the Red River Delta); in the first 6 months of 2024, the GRDP growth rate is estimated to increase by 7.96%, ranking 7th in the Red River Delta and 16th nationwide. Thai Binh is always in the top of the country in terms of public investment disbursement. Thai Binh Economic Zone has been clearly formed and achieved many important results, affirming its role as a driving force for the province's development, creating trust and attractiveness to attract many prestigious domestic and foreign investors. The total registered investment capital in the area in the period of 2021 - 2023 reached 153,011 billion VND, 3.5 times higher than the period of 2016 - 2020; attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) reached over 4.1 billion VND, higher than the total FDI capital of the province from 2020 and before (in 2023 alone, FDI attraction reached nearly 3 billion USD, ranking 5th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide). The planning of Thai Binh province in the period of 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, was approved by the Prime Minister. Up to now, the whole province has 32 communes recognized as meeting advanced new rural standards, 1 commune meeting model new rural standards.

For Tra Vinh province, the average GRDP growth rate in the 3 years of 2021-2023 reached 3.72%, the first 6 months of 2024 is estimated to increase by 10.27%, ranking 6th in the country and leading the Mekong Delta region. The economic structure has shifted in a positive direction; the industry - construction - trade - service sector, product tax accounts for 71.36%. Tra Vinh has Dinh An Economic Zone with an area of 39,020 hectares, which is one of the key economic zones of the country. Currently, the whole province has 5,654 enterprises with a total capital of 73,886 billion VND, creating jobs for 106,217 workers. Up to now, Tra Vinh has basically achieved 8/8 contents of the province completing the task of building new rural areas; 51 communes have met advanced new rural standards, 9 communes have met model new rural standards, 9/9 districts have met standards and completed the task of building new rural areas, 2 districts have met advanced new rural standards.

The material and spiritual life of the people of the two provinces has been constantly improved and raised. The cultural, social, defense and security aspects of the two localities have been ensured. The work of Party building and political system building has continued to be promoted with many drastic solutions and achieved clear results.

Today's working session will be an opportunity for the Standing Committees of the Provincial Party Committees of the two provinces to share and learn from each other in various fields, especially in the construction of economic zones, investment attraction, agricultural and fishery development, new rural construction, etc.

During the resistance war, the strong emulation spirit of Thai Binh - Vinh Tra created the strength to contribute to the liberation of the South and the unification of the country. The Provincial Party Secretary hopes that in the coming time, the Party Committee and people of the two provinces of Thai Binh - Tra Vinh will continue to promote the tradition of solidarity and emulation to deepen the brotherhood of "loyalty, steadfastness - imbued with affection", together determined to successfully achieve the goal: Thai Binh becomes a developed province in the Red River Delta region, and Tra Vinh becomes a developed province in the Mekong Delta region.
