Speed ​​up the Cao Bang City Dam Project

At the construction site of the City's water spillway project, contractors and units are currently focusing on human resources and materials to speed up construction, the main pillars of the spillway system have taken shape. According to the direction of the City People's Committee, we strive to speed up the progress and basically complete the items before April 30, 2025.

In May 2023, the Provincial People's Council issued a Resolution approving the investment policy of the Cao Bang City water dam project with the investment objective of the project being to raise and maintain stable water for the Bang River, creating a landscape of the city center and facilitating the exploitation of surface water sources for production and daily life in riverside areas. Create a wide, open water surface to regulate the climate, improve the ecological environment, develop services and tourism on the river and on both sides of the river. Reduce the amplitude of the river water level, increase the stability of the river bank, reduce flow velocity, and minimize erosion. The project will regulate the water level in the dry season with a flat gate and restore the flood discharge aperture to a natural river, ensuring flood discharge capacity. Operated by a hydraulic system of lifting and lowering the gate, the total width of the compartment with the gate is expected to be about 60 m.

Implementation period from 2023 to 2025. In 2023, the following tasks will be completed: Preparing, appraising and approving the investment proposal report; selecting a consulting unit; preparing, appraising and approving the feasibility study report; site clearance; selecting a consulting unit; preparing, appraising and approving the construction drawing design and estimate; selecting a contractor and implementing construction. In 2025, the acceptance and putting into operation and finalizing the project must be completed.

The project belongs to Group B project with a total investment of 150 billion VND from the local budget supplemented for development investment expenditure, invested by the City Investment and Construction Project Management Board. The dam is built in Tan Giang ward (City). The project is constructed by a consortium of 5 contractors: Tien Dat Construction Company Limited - AVICO Vietnam Joint Stock Company - MAKAWA Technology Equipment Company Limited - Dong Tam Mechanical Construction Investment Joint Stock Company - INTEC Industrial Technology Joint Stock Company.

At this time, the contractor and the construction unit have completed the construction site (material and supplies staging area), service road, component casting area; completed the construction of the main dam yard, upstream and downstream yards, battery pillars, free spillway yard, 2/3 of the reinforced yard volume; cast 6/6 I-beams, left bank concrete embankment, right bank concrete embankment; manufactured mechanical manufacturing equipment (valve gates, drive systems, etc.); lifting equipment; transformer station. At the construction site, many workers and machines are working hurriedly to meet the assigned schedule. 3/4 of the main pillars of the spillway system have taken shape. Up to now, the completed volume has reached about 83% of the contract volume.

The contractor mobilized maximum machinery and human resources to construct the project.

Mr. Vo The Anh, construction manager, Tien Dat Construction Company Limited said: The construction unit focuses on research and will complete the work on the construction site according to the design drawings, actively working overtime on all work items. We mobilize all machinery and increase the number of vehicles, machinery and equipment over time. Maintain 40 workers working continuously in 3 shifts when conditions permit. The underground part is basically 85% complete.

In addition to adding human and material resources to speed up the progress, one of the tasks that the contractor and the construction unit put first is to ensure the quality of the project, technical requirements and labor safety. The Bang River bed is also being actively dredged and cleaned to improve the landscape, helping the flow to circulate better, ready for water level rise after the dam is completed. Faced with the urgent time requirement, the construction unit has developed a plan to implement the remaining tasks, including a detailed and specific plan for the construction of items that are the project's progress critical path, taking advantage of favorable weather to speed up construction.

The completion of the dam will create a new look for the city, open up opportunities to attract tourism, develop services, and at the same time create an abundant water source for the cultivated areas of the people in the city area. Mr. Phan Thanh Hoang, Group 2, Tan Giang Ward (City) shared: I hope the dam will perform well in the function of flood drainage, avoiding flooding, thereby helping the lives of people along both sides of the river to be more stable and if there is a boat dock on the river according to the project, this will be a new development direction for the locality.

The City's water dam project is invested in construction to create a landscape for the city's central space, facilitating the exploitation of agricultural water resources, and at the same time, creating a wide, open water surface to regulate the climate and improve the ecological environment. In addition to setting the goal of completing the project soon, the City continues to develop a project to manage and exploit experiential tourism on the riverbed after the water dam is completed, facilitating the development of services and tourism on the river and on both sides of the river, contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality.
