Strengthening trade and tourism cooperation between Hanoi and Guangzhou (China)

Hanoi and Guangzhou have many similarities in culture, trade and tourism. The cooperative relationship between the two cities has made important strides, especially the increasing trade and investment turnover between the two cities.

Continuing the program of visiting and working in China, on the morning of September 26, in Guangzhou city, the capital of Guangdong province, Mr. Dinh Tien Dung, Politburo member, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the City National Assembly Delegation and the High-ranking Delegation of Hanoi attended and witnessed the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Hanoi People's Committee and the Guangzhou City Government.

Before the signing ceremony, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung met, drank tea and talked with Secretary of the Party Committee and Mayor of Guangzhou City Guo Yonghang.

Mr. Quach Vinh Hang expressed his joy at welcoming the high-ranking delegation of Hanoi city led by Politburo member and Secretary of the City Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung to visit and work in Guangzhou city, a cultural center of the Lingnan region, China.

According to the Secretary of the Guangzhou Party Committee, Hanoi and Guangzhou have many similarities in culture, trade and tourism. The cooperative relationship between the two cities has made important strides, especially the increasing trade and investment turnover between the two cities.

This visit by the Hanoi high-ranking delegation, especially the meeting between the Hanoi Party Secretary and Guangdong Provincial Party Secretary Hoang Khon Minh on September 25, has established a very important new milestone, creating a corridor for the relationship between Hanoi and Guangzhou to go deeper.

Mr. Quach Vinh Hang said: “I propose that the two cities further strengthen cooperation in exchanging experiences in urban management and tourism promotion. After the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding today, our two cities will regularly exchange at all levels and sectors, share expertise, and cooperate between agencies and units... Guangzhou regularly organizes many important international forums and exhibitions, and we look forward to inviting Hanoi as well as other Vietnamese businesses and localities to participate.”

The Secretary of the Guangzhou Municipal Party Committee also proposed to further strengthen exchanges between the two cities' governments, emphasizing that this is a very effective direction; at the same time, he hoped that in the near future, Guangzhou Municipal Party Committee's resource planning cadres would also have the opportunity to come to Vietnam to study.

Highly agreeing with Mr. Quach Vinh Hang's opinion, Hanoi Party Secretary Dinh Tien Dung thanked the city of Guangzhou for its warm, enthusiastic, thoughtful, and comradely reception of the delegation.

Mr. Dinh Tien Dung highly appreciated the position and role of Guangdong province and Guangzhou city, always promoting the leading role in high-quality development, being the pilot place for many new policies and guidelines, including policies on innovation in development, urban management, and special economic zone models.

Regarding the proposals of Secretary of the Guangzhou Party Committee Guo Yonghang, Mr. Dinh Tien Dung affirmed that the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation between the Hanoi People's Committee and the Guangzhou City Government is an important basis to further strengthen the friendly cooperative relationship, create a framework for implementing specific cooperation programs and projects in the future and coordinate the organization of the Hanoi City Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Program in China in the near future.

The Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee emphasized, "hopefully these will be favorable initial steps for the two cities to promote, research, and propose more practical and effective cooperation programs in the coming time."

Mr. Dinh Tien Dung affirmed that Hanoi city will create all favorable conditions for agencies of both sides to effectively implement cooperation in the coming time, especially in cooperation contents that are very necessary and important to the two cities such as urban management, planning, trade, culture, and tourism.

Next, Mr. Dinh Tien Dung and the high-ranking delegation of Hanoi attended the program to promote investment, trade and tourism of Hanoi in China held at the Phuong Dong Hotel Convention Center, Guangzhou city.

Here, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between a number of Vietnamese and Chinese enterprises took place in a number of fields such as investment, trade, tourism, technology, etc.

Speaking at the program, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan affirmed that this is a meaningful occasion for the authorities and businesses of both sides to meet, exchange and share useful information about investment opportunities and preferential policies to attract investment in Hanoi, serving as a bridge for businesses of both sides to meet and seek potential partners in many areas of strength of the two localities.

Mr. Duong Duc Tuan emphasized: "I hope that in the coming time, we will carry out more activities to promote the cooperation between the two localities to be more and more substantial, effective, and in-depth, continuing to open a new, dynamic development period for the common benefit."
