On the afternoon of August 22, at the Party Central Committee headquarters, Comrade Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, Permanent member of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organization Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Parliamentarians' Group, on behalf of the Party Central Committee, received a delegation of the Japanese Komeito Party led by Party Chairman Yamaguchi Natsuo, who is on a working visit to Vietnam.

Comrade Truong Thi Mai welcomed Mr. Yamaguchi and his delegation to visit Vietnam on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, contributing to strengthening political trust and cooperation between the two Parties, promoting friendship between the two peoples, and enriching the extensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan. Comrade Truong Thi Mai emphasized that Vietnam consistently attaches importance to its relations with Japan and is ready to actively contribute to peace, stability and development in the region and the world, together with Japan.
Mr. Yamaguchi expressed his pleasure in visiting Vietnam again since his visit in 1991; congratulated the great achievements that the Party, State and people of Vietnam have achieved in the cause of renovation; highly appreciated the positive results of the Vietnam-Japan relationship and believed that the relationship between the two countries will continue to develop comprehensively.
The two sides agreed on the importance of maintaining regular high-level exchanges, including on State, Party and National Assembly channels; promoting exchanges between parliamentarians, including female and young parliamentarians; and enhancing people-to-people and cultural exchanges.
* On the same day, comrade Le Hoai Trung, member of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Central External Relations Commission, had a working session with Mr. Yamaguchi and the delegation of the Japanese Komeito Party. The two sides affirmed that they will continue to use many forms of flexible exchanges and contacts to further consolidate and develop the relationship between the two Parties, enhance mutual trust, and create a solid political foundation for the relationship between the two countries.
