On the morning of August 23, at the Presidential Palace, President Vo Van Thuong received a delegation of the Japanese Komeito Party led by Party Chairman Yamaguchi Natsuo, who is on a working visit to Vietnam.
President Vo Van Thuong was delighted to welcome Chairman of the Komeito Party of Japan to Vietnam on the occasion of the two countries organizing many activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations (1973-2023); at the same time, he expressed his belief that the visit will contribute significantly to promoting stronger cooperation between the two countries.
Chairman of the Japanese Komeito Party Yamaguchi Natsuo thanked President Vo Van Thuong for taking the time to receive him and sent condolences to the Vietnamese Government on the recent passing of Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh.
Sharing his feelings about returning to Vietnam after more than 30 years since 1991, Mr. Yamaguchi Natsuo congratulated Vietnam on its strong and impressive development, especially in big cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. He expressed his joy at the great achievements in the Vietnam-Japan cooperation relationship after 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Emphasizing that the visits of the two countries' senior leaders are very important in promoting and developing friendship and cooperative relations, Mr. Yamaguchi Natsuo hopes that the two sides will continue to maintain high-level delegation exchanges and enhance comprehensive cooperation for peace and prosperity in the region and the world.
Chairman of the Komin Party suggested that the two countries promote cooperation in human resource development, especially when there are about 500,000 Vietnamese people working and studying in Japan; more than 1,000 Japanese enterprises are investing, producing and doing business in Ho Chi Minh City. Mr. Yamaguchi Natsuo shared his joy at witnessing many important infrastructure development projects in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City that are being cooperated, invested and built by Japanese partners.
President Vo Van Thuong thanked Mr. Yamaguchi Natsuo for sending condolences to the Vietnamese Government on the passing of Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh.
The President emphasized that the Vietnam-Japan relationship is developing increasingly substantively and effectively in all areas. The two countries have high political trust after 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations. This is a good foundation to shape the relationship between the two countries in the next 50 years.
Pleased with the good cooperation between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Komeito Party of Japan, the President highly appreciated the role of the Komeito Party in the process of building and developing Japan's economy and society and in efforts to promote bilateral cooperation between Japan and Vietnam.
The President suggested that both sides increase the exchange of high-level delegations, as this is a fine tradition between the two countries. Vietnam encourages the exchange of delegations and promotes cooperation at all levels and localities, thereby contributing to the relationship between the two countries.

Informing that Vietnam wishes to promote more people-to-people exchange activities between the two countries, the President suggested increasing exchanges between Vietnamese and Japanese youth, thereby creating a premise to maintain and promote cooperation between the two countries in the future.
The President thanked the Government and people of Japan for always paying attention to and creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese workers, interns and students to work and study in Japan, thereby contributing to the socio-economic development of Japan and fostering friendly relations.
Appreciating the effectiveness of economic, trade and investment cooperation, the President said that Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements have been due to important contributions from many cooperation programs and projects of Japanese enterprises and investors. The Vietnamese people are grateful for these important contributions and hope that the two sides will continue to expand cooperation for the benefit of each side.
In the current complicated regional and global context, the President suggested that the two countries coordinate more closely and continue to support each other at international forums for common peace and prosperity in the region and the world.
The President hopes that the Komeito Party, chaired by Mr. Yamaguchi Natsuo, will continue to receive support from the Japanese people, contribute more to Japan's socio-economic development process, and promote cooperative relations with Vietnam to become better and more effective in the future.
