On February 22, in Ho Chi Minh City, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam had a high-level meeting with President of the Cambodian People's Party, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia Hun Sen and General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Thongloun Sisoulith.
Also attending the meeting were Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Lao Prime Minister Sonsay Siphandon.
At the meeting, the three leaders of the three Parties discussed the recent world and regional situation, shared the situation of each Party and each country in the past year, assessed the results and proposed directions for cooperation between the three Parties and three countries in the coming time.
The three leaders congratulated the great achievements that the three Parties and three countries have made, especially the guaranteed national defense and security, positive economic growth, and the stable and increasingly improved lives of the people. The three sides emphasized the close, intimate and strategic relationship between the three countries; emphasized that the stability, security and development of one country is also the stability, security and development of the other two countries; and affirmed the consistent policy of the three Parties and three countries to always give top priority to the traditional friendship between the three Parties, three countries and people of Vietnam-Cambodia-Laos.
The three leaders expressed their delight at the significant achievements in the cooperative relationship between the three countries, which has been increasingly consolidated and developed, in which political relations continue to be the foundation for the relationship between the three parties, playing a guiding role for the relationship between the three countries; defense and security cooperation has been effectively promoted; and economic, trade, investment, cultural, educational, scientific and technological cooperation has seen positive changes.
In the context of the volatile and unpredictable regional and world situation, the three sides agreed to continue to deepen, comprehensively and further expand the relationship between the three Parties and three countries, tighten political trust and relations between high-ranking leaders; commit to maintaining and promoting the tradition of solidarity and closeness between the three countries, considering this a priceless asset, an objective and inevitable law for ensuring a peaceful, secure and developing environment for each country. The three sides agreed to maintain and further strengthen propaganda and education work so that generations of people of the three countries, especially the young generation, clearly understand and always remember this tradition of solidarity and closeness.
The three sides also agreed to strengthen the pillar of defense-security cooperation, ensure effective response to traditional and non-traditional security challenges; enhance information exchange, consultation, close coordination, support and protect each other's legitimate interests, and jointly respond to common challenges.
The three leaders emphasized the need to continue creating breakthroughs in economic cooperation, promoting connectivity between the three economies, especially in transport, trade and tourism; and promoting cultural, educational and scientific-technical cooperation on the basis of promoting the potential and strengths of each country.
The three leaders agreed to promote the effectiveness of existing cooperation mechanisms and forms, continue to exchange and find new methods for increasingly high-quality, effective and substantive cooperation, for the benefit of each country and the common interests of the three peoples, for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
On this occasion, President Hun Sen and General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith sent congratulations to General Secretary To Lam and other Party and State leaders and all Vietnamese people on the occasion of 2025 marking the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) and the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025).
