On the morning of December 29, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Phuc, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, signed a document agreeing to temporarily open the Prenn Pass road from 9:00 a.m. this morning (December 29) to 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
Prenn Pass is temporarily opened to traffic to serve the New Year holiday.
On the above days, all vehicles (except trucks traveling through Mimosa Pass) are allowed to travel through Prenn Pass from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a maximum speed of no more than 50 km/hour.
After 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024, Prenn Pass (from Prenn Bridge to Datanla Waterfall) will continue to be closed so that the investor can complete the remaining items of the Prenn Pass upgrade and expansion project.
Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee assigned the Provincial Police to direct the establishment of traffic checkpoints on the Prenn Pass route to ensure safety and regulate traffic during the temporary traffic opening period (from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily); outside of the above time, the construction unit will take over the checkpoints to manage and not allow vehicles to enter the construction site.
Prenn Pass is twice as wide as before.
Traffic police regularly patrol and check to ensure traffic order and safety on Prenn Pass and Mimosa to promptly regulate, guide and divide traffic flow in accordance with the actual situation.
At the same time, rent and arrange 2 rescue vehicles on duty 24/7 from December 29, 2023 to January 2, 2024 in 2 areas between Mimosa Pass and Prenn Pass to promptly handle situations when traffic accidents occur.
The Department of Transport is assigned to preside over and coordinate with the Provincial Police, Da Lat City People's Committee, and Tuyen Lam Lake National Tourist Area Management Board in organizing traffic diversion for Prenn Pass, Mimosa Pass, and routes in Tuyen Lam Lake tourist area to ensure smooth traffic during the New Year holiday.
Prenn Pass will be one of the widest and most beautiful mountain passes in the country.
The Provincial Traffic Project Management Board directs the construction unit to temporarily stop construction during the above-mentioned temporary traffic opening days; clean the construction site, install adequate barriers, signal lights... to warn and prevent vehicles from entering the construction area to ensure absolute safety for vehicles traveling on the site; at the same time, arrange forces and vehicles to ensure traffic for the construction site (during the time allowed for vehicles to travel on Prenn Pass) and to guard and manage the construction site (after 7:00 p.m.).
The Prenn Pass expansion and upgrade project (nearly 7.4km long; 15.5m wide roadbed, 14.5m wide road surface; total capital of more than 552 billion VND) started in February 2023 and is expected to be completed and put into use before Lunar New Year 2024.
