Sony introduces "fancy" headphones with many new features

Consumer electronics and technology equipment manufacturer Sony recently launched the WF-C710N, the next version of the WF-C700N wireless headphones.

The Sony WF-C710N headphones feature an improved active noise cancellation (ANC) system in addition to many features previously only available on the company's higher-end models.

The Japanese consumer electronics giant's improvement of the ANC feature on the WF-C710N is a necessary step as users have complained that the WF-C700N is not effective in its ANC capabilities, which can only handle low-frequency noise.

Sony has used two microphones to upgrade ANC capabilities as well as the transparent listening mode, although Sony has not been able to equip the headphones with a dedicated noise-canceling processor like on high-end products.

In terms of battery life, the WF-C700N can last up to 7.5 hours with noise cancellation turned on and 15 hours with the charging case. Now, the WF-C710N has improved the usage time to 8.5 hours and a total of 30 hours with the charging case.

With the ANC function turned off, the headset can work for up to 40 hours with the charging case. The charging speed of the headset has also been upgraded, with users only needing 5 minutes of charging in the case to be able to use it for an hour, halving the time compared to before.

One of the standout features of the WF-C710N, copied from high-end headphones, is the sensor that automatically pauses playback when the user takes the headphones off. Sony has also removed physical buttons in favor of customizable touch buttons that allow users to control playback, take calls, adjust the volume, and perform other tasks.

The WF-C710N headphones are IPX4 rated to protect internal components from water and dust.

Priced at $120, the headphones support simultaneous connection to two devices and come in a variety of striking colors for customers to choose from. The WF-C710N will be available in Pink, White, Black, and a new Aqua Blue color with a transparent plastic cover for the headphones and charging case.
