The “Clean Drinking Water for the Community” program has been implemented in phase I by the Vietnam Red Cross Society from 2016 to 2019; phase II of the project will be implemented in 6 provinces: Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Binh Thuan, Ninh Thuan, Tien Giang and Soc Trang with the goal of contributing to reducing health risks for the community in the context of climate change through the provision of P&G water purifier powder packages. This is a timely, simple, and inexpensive support solution that helps significantly reduce the risk of disease caused by the use of polluted water sources.
Speaking at the conference, comrade Nguyen Hai Anh said that the phase II project will be implemented until the end of October 2026 with the goal of providing clean drinking water to 35,000 households directly affected by natural disasters and catastrophes, equivalent to about 150,000 people through providing P&G water filter powder packages; organizing 980 communication sessions for 50,000 people and students; about 300 Vietnam Red Cross officials and volunteers from the central to community levels will be enhanced in clean water and sanitation in emergency situations, planning, implementing and monitoring the project; allocating about 4.5 million P&G water filter powder packages supported by Americares to project provinces and provinces affected by natural disasters and catastrophes; providing 7,500 plastic bottles/buckets for water filtration; Develop a set of communication materials on clean water, sanitation and instructions for using water filter powder for households, teachers and students. We believe that with the attention and leadership of Party committees and authorities at all levels, along with the close coordination of departments, organizations and the response of local people, the project will be implemented on schedule and effectively, not only achieving the set goals, but also creating sustainable impacts, spreading humanistic values, contributing to improving the quality of life for the community.
At the conference, delegates listened to presentations on the water situation in Vietnam, in the world and challenges in the coming time; guidance on planning activities, time, and budget as well as discussing advantages, difficulties, challenges, and proposing solutions for implementation.
