On June 23, Hoang Yen represented more than 1,300 students receiving their graduation certificates, Bachelor of Practice and Engineer of Practice certificates at Ho Chi Minh City College of Economics (District 10) to give a speech. Yen was the valedictorian of this graduation with a cumulative score of 3.98/4, achieving excellent results.
Ho Chi Minh City College of Economics held a graduation ceremony for more than 1,300 students on June 23.
Yen confided that her family is from Ninh Thuan province, her father is a bricklayer and her mother is a maid. The family faced many difficulties, so after graduating from high school, Yen decided to study at college in Ho Chi Minh City.
“I am also an introvert, so I like working with data. Choosing to study accounting at school is also my dream. Compared to university, the cost of college is much lower. Each semester ranges from 5-6 million, the training time is short, only about 2.5 years” – Yen shared.
The valedictorian said she usually schedules her classes by session, and on days when she has free time, she works part-time from 5 to 6 p.m. In her free time in the evening, she reviews her lessons and learns more about her major.

Yen believes that studying in the classroom is very important, but students themselves must also be aware of the need to improve themselves. According to Yen, during the study process, students should spend time doing part-time jobs related to their chosen career. That way, after graduation, they can accumulate more experience and easily get noticed by businesses.
Holding his excellent graduation certificate in hand, Nguyen Duc Sinh, a student of business administration, emotionally said: “I also once had a dream of being admitted to a top university in business administration, but I was a few points short. I did not give up my dream because of that, I chose a different path. The time studying at college helped me to be exposed to the real environment earlier than my peers. Right after graduating, I also found a job at a prestigious company.”
Sinh confided that his family was from Dak Lak province. His father had passed away, so all the financial burden fell on his mother. During his studies, Sinh worked in several places. Sinh always reminded himself that studying was the most important thing, and that he should not neglect his studies because of work.
Sinh said he has improved his teamwork, planning and presentation skills. In addition, Sinh is also the class monitor and has received the school's excellent scholarship for 3 consecutive semesters.
Talking about graduation certificates, Sinh said that graduating with honors, good or average is not too important, however, the graduation certificate shows how seriously the student has studied and how hard he or she has worked during the learning process, which is also a "plus point" for businesses.
The young man hopes to find a job as he wishes in the future, and then open his own company as a gift for his mother.
Master Tran Van Tu, Principal of Ho Chi Minh City College of Economics, said that in this graduation ceremony, the school awarded degrees to 1,331 students. Of these, 30 students achieved excellent results, 191 students graduated with honors, and 80 students were excellent in movements and class activities.
