Saigon Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SCB) has just announced the termination of operations of 6 transaction offices in Ho Chi Minh City.
Two transaction offices ceased operations from December 2, namely Bay Hien Transaction Office - Thong Nhat Branch and Nguyen Thong Transaction Office - Pham Ngoc Thach Branch.
Four transaction offices will cease operations from December 6: Thi Nghe Transaction Office - Tan Dinh Branch; Hiep Thanh Transaction Office - Hoc Mon Branch; An Hoi Transaction Office - Hoc Mon Branch; Luy Ban Tich Transaction Office - Thong Nhat Branch.
Previously, the bank announced the closure of 21 transaction offices in Dong Nai, Da Nang, Gia Lai, Long An, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi in October and November.
Since the beginning of June 2023, SCB has announced the closure of a total of 39 transaction offices in 9 provinces and cities. The most are in Ho Chi Minh City and followed by Hanoi.
SCB is under special control of the State Bank from October 15, 2022.
The State Bank's special control of a credit institution is a professional measure prescribed by law to strictly control and limit negative impacts on that credit institution and the system of credit institutions.
The State Bank has also selected and appointed experienced, capable and qualified officials from state-owned commercial banks (Vietcombank, BIDV, VietinBank, Agribank) to participate in the management and operation of SCB Bank.
SCB also said that after more than 1 year of being placed under special control, SCB has actively coordinated with relevant authorities to implement solutions in accordance with legal regulations to ensure the safety of the banking system and protect the rights and interests of depositors.
Up to now, SCB has continuously received timely and close support and direction from the State Bank and relevant agencies to gradually stabilize and handle difficulties and obstacles, and focus on building a Bank Restructuring Project, aiming to stabilize banking operations and develop SCB in a new period.
