This morning (April 18), in Hanoi , the Central Steering Committee for the celebration of major holidays and important historical events of the country in 3 years (2023 - 2025) held a press conference on activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
At the press conference, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang said that the event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) received attention and positive responses from international delegates and guests. This is a major event of great significance to Vietnam and the world.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs said that so far, more than 20 delegations from various countries will attend at different levels from the Ministerial level and above.

Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang said that for the first time, the parade will include a group of 120 overseas Vietnamese. Along with that, it is expected that more than 100 overseas Vietnamese delegates from 25 countries and territories will be selected to participate in this important event. In addition, there will also be a number of former war correspondents and overseas Vietnamese reporters attending this event.
Ms. Hang said that the group of overseas Vietnamese is currently in Da Nang and is expected to participate in a series of activities. These include preparing to join the great solidarity ship, together with representatives of personalities, religions, ethnic groups, etc. to visit Truong Sa island district and DK1 platform. After completing this cruise, the group of overseas Vietnamese will continue to participate in activities in a series of events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South.
Answering a question from Lao Dong reporters at a press conference about the training process of overseas Vietnamese participating in the parade, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs said that this was the first time there was a parade of overseas Vietnamese. Overseas Vietnamese delegates were able to directly participate in this event, with a very diverse and representative composition.
"As for the overseas Vietnamese parade, as I understand it, there has been very elaborate and thoughtful preparation and it is also in the process of practicing to assemble the group, to do preliminary and final rehearsals" - Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang informed.
In addition, Ms. Hang also informed that the parade is expected to include marching groups from neighboring countries Laos and Cambodia.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs also said that there are currently about 20 international delegations, including 3 high-level delegations, 5 delegations at the ministerial level or higher, 15 political parties on different continents, including leaders at all levels of these political parties.

Vice Chairwoman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy said that overseas Vietnamese have started practicing.
“Although the number of people is less than 120 compared to the original list due to flight schedules, the marching groups have practiced according to schedule for the past 2 weeks, and practiced together on the other side of the Saigon River. On the evening of April 18, the groups will continue to practice together,” Ms. Dieu Thuy added.
