Leading US technology companies such as Meta, Amazon and OpenAI plan to sponsor preparations for President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration.
The New York Times reported on December 13 that Amazon said it would donate $1 million to a fund responsible for the expenses of Mr. Trump's inauguration, which will take place on January 20, 2025. Previously, Facebook's parent company Meta also announced on December 11 that it would donate the same amount.
On December 13, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, the company that created the artificial intelligence (AI) application ChatGPT, said the company would sponsor $1 million for Mr. Trump's inauguration.
“Mr. Trump will lead our country into the AI era, and I look forward to supporting his efforts to ensure America remains at the forefront,” Mr. Altman said.

Mr. Donald Trump appeared at the New York Stock Exchange on December 12.
Trump's relationship with Amazon was not very good during his first term as president, when Trump claimed that the US Postal Service (UPS) gave many incentives to Amazon, while the technology company accused the former president of pressuring the Pentagon to reject a cloud computing contract.
